I am a british citizen and i am about to marry my gf she live's in usa and she has greencard she's not citizen yet. but she want me to live in the state after married, would that be possible for me to go and live there. if yes what r the steps to follow. and how long will it take for the paper work to get doe. thanks

I could be wrong, but I think you can live here. However, because she's not a citisen either, you probably can't get citisenship the quick way. If you want to come and live in USA, being British will probably make it a little easier than would be if you were from somewhere else. Too bad we're not part of the Commonwealth...damn John Adams...

I thought it was quite hard to do. Bill Bryson in one of his books recounts how he took his English wife of about 20 years back with him when he returned to live in the USA, and the process of getting her immigration status regularised was long drawn out, complicated and painful.

It's possible for a green card holder to sponsor her spouse, but it is extremely difficult. How long has she been a green card holder? It would be much easier for both of you if she got her U.S. citizenship first, and then you got married.

Your need to apply for a visa. my friend is here shes married an American and has to stay here till paper work is complete. she thinks it could take 6 months.

You should talk to an immigration attorney. The laws are complicated. She may not be in a position to sponsor anyone in the US yet.
