You can use a VCR that has a VHS to DV tape recording capability. This way you can make your VHS film digital. Then you can use a computer that is connected to the DV player side to import a video onto a computer.

This how I do it. I have a firewire, I think EEE1394, that I connect my camcorder to my computer. Then I use video editing software, I have Roxio but Pinnacle is just as good. Once I get the video onto the computer video editing software, I save it in my video c drive and I have it on file. This is how I also do it to put my videos on youtube.com

Easiest way would be to get an external TV card, like Happague WinTV, and just plug your VCR directly into your computer and hit the record button! They're super cheap now too (hint: e-bay!).
