I have been highlighting my hair lighter for years now, but I have decided I would like to have dark hair. I keep dying it brown and it looks GREAT for like the first 2 days and then automatically starts fading. Will it ever keep any color in it or am I just going to have to let it grow out???

naturally lighter hair color is harder to color, (color has a hrad time sticking into lighter hair) One reason for that, is even though darker haired people appear to have thicker hair, lighter haired people tend to have more hair per folicle verses a dark brunette, it's just harder to see and usually softer.

To fix that, she would suggest going to a beauty supply store (most tend to have better professional coloring kits) or get it professionally done.

First, make sure you are using a Professional product. You don't necessarily have to go to a hairdresser to get professional products. There is Sally's Beauty supply which has Color complements which you can get in permanent color (if you've been using a semi or demi color--fading is inevitable) If you want permanent color apply permanent color. Make sure you check the directions and leave the color in until the instructed time. Sometimes when you are looking at a color process.. it LOOKS dark and you more than likely will rinse too soon. Don't do that. Your hair is very porous from the highlights, so depositing color should not be a problem. Try adding a filler BEFORE you color next time. Also you should know fading occurs with ANYONE. Which is why when you have root touch-ups the hairdresser will do roots ..obviously to cover natural color that has grown out, but then they will do what is called "pulling it through" which simply means "refreshing" the color.

you need to put the red back into your hair first.the bleach has stripped your hair off all pigmentation,or use a reddish brown dye ,like a chestnut or an auburn colour.once you've applied the red,you will more than likely have to put a couple off dye's on ,it needs to build and restore the colour back into the hair shaft, you will get there though,so dont give in. go girl!!!!!!

you should make sure you are buying a permanent colour, i like l'oreal nice and easy dark chestnut brown, it's a lovely dark glossy rich brown. i used this on top of my high lights and it turned out fine

use a shampoo and conditioner that's made specially for brunettes, this will make your colour richer for longer and try and not was your hair every day

At my salon they bleached it three times in one day yet they did it in like 5 hours lol and the technique they used replaced into brushing on the bleach and not leaving me under they warm hair dryers in any respect(thats why it took 5 hours lol) so which you ought to have the skill to yet relies upon on the flexibility of your hair:) good success woman

for me it depends in the girl. Like I might observe a girl with black hair and think she is totally hot yet see a girl with blond hair that is meh and vice versa.

try using a semi permanent colour before you put the permanent one on, this is known as a precolour and will give the permanent colour something to hold on to.
