Depends on what kind you need hospice home health PT Non medical home health
With all of it You need to call the agency and set up services

A smart thing to do is to check out home agency to see how many if any complaints with the state are against them. If they had any deficiency at all.
Do they back round check all there people are they licensed and bonded and insured does there aides have workers comp so if they get hurt in your home they are covered by the agency.
Does your aide read and write English do they understand each other well your Mom and dad well understand instructions.Follow the plan of care verbatim
What does the agency offer .Is mom or dad real critical ready to die and will they have to be switched over to hospice soon .If this is the case you would want to go with a home health that also offer hospice and would be sooth transition not to mention the home health would be looking for changes in mom or dad if they also have a hospice with there company.

Non Medicals home healths do not work under a Nurse guise and there people do not have to be licensed to work for them they only have to have prior experience. They can do bathing feeding changing housekeeping some end of life care helping the client exercise and tranporting the paitient they can also remind the client to take there meds but can't set up the meds .They do 1 to 24 hr care

Home healths work under a nurse guise and can do They can do bathing feeding changing some end of life care helping the client exercise with there Pt and OT they can also set up meds remind the aide can remind the client to take there meds but can't set up the meds They do not do 24 hr care
Hospice end of life care under medicare benift pays for the drugs homehealth massage people the chaplin the nurse and even mucic therapy but not all have all these benfits. They do not do 24 hr care
One thing to ask if Mom or dad is not happy with the care can the care provider be changed withen the company
You can also change your care company as long as you give them notice as stated in there contract with you.

You need to be homebound in order for medicare and most insurances to pay for it. Homebound meaning you can go to the doctor, church, and to the hairdresser and it must take a considerable and taxing effort on the patient.
I used to be a Homecare Co-Ordinator Specialist for a Hospital and am also an RN who works in homecare.

for a start you need to think about the hygiene practices of the carer attending your home/needs... you never know where they have been before they came to you and what they were doing so always make sure they wash their hands before doing anything. just politely steer them to the bathroom by saying something like "there's soaps on the counter in the bathroom if you need it"... if they aren't clean and practise hygiene for them self you can be sure they dont care about you... if there are problems you can always call their employee and request another carer. good luck
