Hi, I am not an Indian girl but I know a thing or two abt Shikakai. Honestly speaking the moment it is a soap, there will be added ingredients to it... Chemicals. If you want the true blue Shikakai you can get it in powdered form. There are many in stores today whereby you have shikakai with many other extracts- natural ones like henna, rose. They are all grounded and you just need to add a little water to the powdered mixture and massage into your hair. Avoid using your fingernails because that will lead your hair to fall more. Just use your fingertips gently massaging into the scalp. There are even shampoo with Shikakai extract in, so be careful with what you buy because they may claim it is natural but actually it is not.

I'm not indian but i use shikaki powder in my Henna thair treatments and it is actually made from grinding the pods of a small tree called Acacia Concinna that grows in asia. I prefer straight shikaki powder coz its the 'added ingredients' bit that i worry about. I'd rather buy it plain then mix it in my hair treatment myself.
