My husband n I planned to visit Switzerland (Lausanne) for a week between March n April 07. We hear Swiss is a small country, so any suggestion how to make the most of it?
By the way we're Indonesian, n never travel to the Europe region before, so we would very appreciate any advice on the clothing during stay and "gastronomical" facts....
Thanx a lot!!!!

Hi, I m indonesian too....studied in Switzerland couple years back....here is my suggestion....
walk around in the old town of Lausanne....then visit some French speeaking region nearby such as Geneva, Montreux, Vevey....go to tourist office and get the attracttion map. Many Chateaux, museums, wine maker/vineyard, go to chocolate factory, and cheese maker.
Ummm....you must skiing....I think in Zermatt is the best skiing place....but a bit more expensive.....
Switzerland is so small, I suggest you to visit some places in German and Italian speaking region instead of staying in Lausanne.
Places like: Luzern, Lugano, Zurich, Basel, Bern, are very stunning. I suggest you to broowsing in google....Switzerland has a fine rail system with great schedule.....you can plan your route now.
March/April is the beginning of spring, weather is not too striking....just normal Jacket will do with a t-shirt and pull...but i dont know for sure hows ur body reaction to temperature....also remember to drink water....
If happen to go to ski resort.....you should try cheese fondue, other than ... wines, chocolate and yogurt!!!!
Remember.....saturday and sunday everything is close...even grocery.
Hope u enjoy Switzerland!!! and dont forget to bring home souvenirs....(saint bernard dog, swiss bell, watch, chocolate, wines)...

Well, Switzerland is a small country - but there are so many different parts and attractions that one really could spend weeks here.

Being in Lausanne, you surely would travel to Geneva and also to the Wallis or the Bernese Alps, perhaps going up Jungfrau or visiting Zermatt (at the famous Matterhorn). A good touristic place with many possibilities is Lucerne.

Clothing is usually casual - wear what you like, rather trousers than skirts actually as a woman. In Spring, the weather is quite uncertain, often rainy, and to go up mountains it's recommended to have a good jacket with you.
