It takes time. Dont rush your self. Try and keep a journal of certain verses that would keep you motivated. My favorite is Psalms 37:4 It keeps me motivated. But I had the same problem in the past and the journal, I kept it like a diary really seemed to help me. And to get motivated to just read it, try a couple of verses, or chapters, whatever your comfortable with, a day. And then you'll be reading on a daily basis.
Good Luck.
God Bless.

Well, what Bible are you reading. I read the KJV Bible, others may be more interested in the more updated versions. I want it just how it is. However, there is Bible on CD, a recent one was recorded by some actors. But for real, you just have to want it. God wants to speak to you through his word. He wants to reveal truth. His people die for the lack of knowledge, that's scripture. The Bible is your roadmap. If you want to know where you are going or know how to do what you need to do the answers will be revealed to you in the word. Get some journals, you might be inspired to write or a study book or something that is about a topi that you really need. If you want to speak right, read your bible. If you want to think right, read your Bible. If you want to love right, read your Bible. Read, read, read. I've read the thing twice and I still am learning and amazed, try it for yourself. Get in a quiet place or read with some friends. Join a Bible Study or set a time block in your day when it's just you God, your bible, and some worship music. Get creative, but get God!

Try reading a bible that is easy to understand....NIV . There are several different versions out there . Go to a Christian book store and see what works best for you. You can find one with a daily bible reading section in it also and that will motivate you to read more.

Try honestly answering those few who come to YA seeking honest answers concerning The True Christian Faith... you will need to have the Bible ready.... I have found it very chalenging to make the correct responce... not cut and paste Bible verses... but to give proper personal responces based on my understanding of Scripture... constantly need to go to The book to verify my positions... I also attend a mens Bible Study weekly that keeps me in The Book to be up with the others...Also when I hear domething on the tv or radio that I think is a bit off oncerning some fact about the Bible I try to lookin it up as soon as I can to find the facts... You might try visiting my web site... you might find a lot of differences you would feel the need to go to The Book about.... I do not claim to "know it all"... you might prove me wrong... if you like here is the link... http://www.mikesfaith.com

Well, keep in mind that the Bible is made up of over sixty small books & letters, written over several thousand years. And some of those sixty-some books are made up of smaller parts, like Psalms (right in the senter of the Bible) which is a collection of poetry -- 150 poems, in fact! Most of the New Testament is a collection of letters written to Christians of the first century (like Philemon or Timothy) or churches of the first century (in a city like Corinth or Ephesus, or in a larger region like Galatia - which is now mostly Turkey). It took the famous (and highly misunderstood) Holy Spirit of God to make sure there weren't any of those errors that atheists pretend are there!
Pick a place to start with just one book: I suggest something in the New Testament (as they tend to be shorter), especially John (which is one of the four Gospels, so it tells the story of Jesus' life) or perhaps Romans (which is a letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome). If you'd like to try something in the Old Testament, I reccomend starting with something like 1st Samuel (and the books right after it, which continue the story: 2nd Samuel, 1st Kings, 2nd Kings), or something out of the books of poetry (perhaps a Psalm a day, or there are enough chapters in Proverbs to do one chapter a day for a month).
By all means, pray when you do -- The Bible has lots of important things to say, but God can help you understand what you're reading, and in fact promised to do so for anyone who asks Him to.
Happy reading!

By seriously reading other religions scripture and commentary. On an intellectual and spiritual level one can't truly appreciate ones spiritual beliefs and texts unless one questions, studies, experiments, explores, and examines. I would recommend the Bhagavad-Gita (Hindu text), the Quran, English translations of the Torah (you will find it different from the old testament!), the Gilgamesh Epic (the original Noah story), the Lotus Sutra, or the works of Helen Elaine Pagels, the book of Mormon, the list never ends! If you read and find these and other works interesting, the Bible will become interesting as well.

When it comes to reading the bible, it is one of the most difficult task that you will ever fulfill in your life. The reason is because of all the hidden things that you have to endure.
The one reason that you have a hard time studying, is because of the devil. He and his legion of demons are putting road blocks of distractions in your way, to causes confusion and wayward laziness.
The only solution is to pray and wait. You need to pray for strength and the inspiration to want to read and then wait for God to give you an answer or help you. The reason why you need to pray is so that you can communicate with God, and the reason why you need to wait is because God needs to make away so that you can do what you need to do. Also you have to remember, God knows if you are sincere or not.
I hope that this Helps :)

Try a chapter a night...a few pages, etc. I know it's hard to get motivated to do. I had to read it for a class and I did it all at the last minute. It's much easier to take in and understand in small doses.

To be honest, when I first became a Christian it was tough for me to sit down and focus on reading the bible daily. What motivated me to do it AND like it was my love for God and desire to get to know Him better.

Spend each day as if it were your last. Realize that GOD has given each of us a short time to do what is most important here on earth. HE may come for us at judgment in this hour as far as we know. I want to be ready when HE comes, DON'T YOU? Make sure that you have spent time studying with your friends and neighbors so that they too will have an opportunity to be in heaven also. Would you want to meet them afterwards and see that they are going to HELL? I wouldn't either! Keep each and every day in your heart as being one day closer to meeting with GOD at Judgment. This may help you to remember how important it is that we always read and study HIS WORD. Have a great evening. I hope to see you at ChUrCh.
