An egg is the housing for embryos to feed and grow until hatching. If fertilized life, it will produce life. Eggs are used with birds, insects, arachnids, and reptiles. The duck billed platypus also lays eggs. In humans, the female releases an egg the size of a pin head and if fertilized by a male, it attaches to the wall of the uterus and the embryo receives nutrition via a blood rich placenta. The fetus grows inside of the uterus until birth. Fish usually reproduce by egg laying. Sometimes the male fertilizes the eggs by invitro (outside of the female) though there are species who also copulate. Have a nice day. There is a lot of information out there that illustrates the parts and functions of the egg.
