I have a long haired orange tabby patterned cat, he is 15 pounds and getting bigger. We adopted him thinking he was a maine coon, but no maine coon I know looks like this. We want to know what he is, so we can search for another. I can email a picture to anybody who would like (mcollum83@yahoo.com)

I had an orange Maine Coon that was given to me and he weighed in at 32# but we got him down to 28#. He eventually had to be put down for health issues (his previous owner passed away and he wasn't handling it too well and the vet couldn't determine what was wrong with the kitty). Now I have my "big boy" kitty who is a 23# adopted from the shelter. He is dark tiger with a gut but healthy by all means. We feed him hi-quality weight maintenance food and he seem happy (for an indoor kitty). Some cats aren't Maine Coon but meant to be big...ours is long legs and broad shoulders.

Orange Maine coons aren't common, but I've seen them-he may just be a Maine coon mix. Maine coons have a distinctive "point' to the fur at the tips of their ears, as well as being very large cats. Or he may be just a mutt-domestic longhair would be the fancy term : )

he certainly is gorgeous. that fur is such a beautiful color. ienlarged the pic on the pc, got a good look at paws, coat etc.. he definetly looks like a red/orange maine coon. i have never seen this color in a maine so, i went to this site: www.cfa.org
went to the breed guide pulled up maine coon info, there was a maine coon that was mainly white, but has the same color of markings that your cat has the full coat of. please give him a kitty treat for me

Sounds like a Red Mackeral Tabby cat. Tabby's can get pretty large.

Hi there...he may be a Domestic Long Hair (DLH) orange tabby.

Here are some photos of DLH orange tabbies: http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=long+hair+orange+tabby&btnG=Search

You might want to ask your local veternarian as he/she could probably tell you what type of cat you own, without any hesitation.
