Cats are nocturnal animals, which means they are up all night and sleep all day. And then saying your kitty is lazy is not a possibility, your implying it has a JOB. Well... if sleeping, licking yourself, and getting humans to wait on you, and clean up your poop to boot, is a job...I want to apply for that one too!!

A Typical Cat's Day:
sleep
re-adjust
lick yourself

Strech
pester your humans to feed you

go eat food lap up water
sleep in the middle of the floor - any floor
sleep
run around the house like a lunitic
go to special spot
re-adjust, lick
sleep
sleep
wake up - yawn big- show teeth
check out cat box - if not clean enough go
find your owned human and yeoowl alot
poop behind the chair cause your unhappy
lick yourself
roll over and lay on your back with all feet going different directions, glare around the room close eyes and try to sleeeep
viciously attact the hand of the dumb human that just petted your belly
Can't They see your sleeping???
walk three steps away
fall over
sleep
when human comes in with groceries quickly run in front of them flop over and lie there...
pretend to sleep, cover face with paws, laugh at how much they scream about THAT cat
relax

Cats are nocturnal animals and it is natural for them to be very active at night. You can't really turn his schedule around completely but just enough so you can sleep. It may take a little time but if you can, confine your cat in your bedroom with you at night or in some other room where there isn't much to do but sleep or look out a (closed) window. Then when you wake up, let the cat loose around the house with plenty of toys and distractions. The cat will play or otherwise be up for a few hours then nap again and wake again and play. But if you keep doing this - keep the cat calm and quiet at night and alert in the day, he'll probably allow you to sleep through the night. Mine do now.

Mine did the same thing when I first got them. They ran over the bed, with me in it, chasing each other.

What I did to try and break them from playing at night was to keep waking them up during the day so they didn't get much rest, then have a great play session about an hour before I went to bed. This seems to tire them out enough that they slept all night during the two days I kept waking them up.

Since then, they've changed their playing habits so that they no longer play all night long. They do sometimes still play a bit at night for they are only 6 and 9 months old.

A happy and content cat sleeps a lot. As for being hyper at night, it's just a cat thing. It's something that you will probably have to learn to live with.

When I first got my cat, she slept all day and played all night. She would hop up on the bed and pat at me, sit on me (even on my face!) or do something else to be sure I woke up because she wanted to play. I tried everything to cure her of this - shouting "no!," spraying her from a water bottle, etc. to no avail.

Then I had a good idea. I scolded her and locked her out of my bedroom each time she woke me up. It took my doing that only about three times and she has never awakened me again.

I play with her a lot during the day (even if I have to wake her up to do it - she's not allowed to wake me up but I do it to her - lol!) and then she seems to be tired enough to leave me alone at night. She sleeps on my bed most of the night but leaves me strictly alone unless I wake up and call to her.

Good luck with your cat - he sounds like he will be a great playtoy for you!

Okay this is what you do. During the day. When you see your cat sleeping. Wake the cat up. Keep him awake all day. Than he will sleep like a rock all night. GOOD LUCK

it is just a cat thing, that's the way they are and we can't change them, certainly your cat doesn't make that much racket...our cat does the nite crazies thing for a bit then it is back to quietly being a regal cat, doing whatever they do at night (hunting and stalking crickets and bugs in the basement, i suppose)

Your cat is not lazy, its nocturnal, like all house cats are naturally. There is a reason why cats can "see in the dark."

Educate yourself.

find some catnip, or catnip toys, and let it play because most domestic cats are more active during the night.
or you could give it some fresh mice to eat.
