I was getting married last december and the colors the bridesmaids all bought gold dresses because it was going to be very formal. Well, we had to re-schedule to this June, and they all can't afford to get new dresses. I thought maybe using navy blue with a little gold accents would be pretty, but the main color would be white. just a little navy blue and gold to add a little color.

Also, the gold is not a bright gold, but the dress is a little sparkly and formal.

Of course Navy Blue and Gold would be beautiful for wedding colors! Haven't you ever seen a military wedding on TV? You could still go with black tuxes and have the vests be navy blue with gold thread work or ivory with gold thread work. The girls' dresses sound like they'll be more subtle than most people are assuming. I say go for it. If you're in doubt, though, go to the david's bridal website. They have a thing there where you can "dress your wedding" and use their catalog to find what you're looking for. Then you can see what it's going to look like.

I think it might turn out a little clashy to be honest with you. Are the dresses like gold lame'? or just a golden color? Navy tuxes with gold is going to look very Vegas or Ringmaster-like. You really can't go wrong with a basic black tux. The men's tuxes absolutely do not need to match the bridesmaids dresses. I always thought it looked ultra cheesy when the guys vests matched the color of the girls dresses (picture girls in orange with guys in orange cummerbunds,,,it was seriously a nightmare). Just keep it very simple:black tux, white shirts and black vests. Gold dresses are hard. I really don't know what to tell you about that other than to not add another color to it. If the dresses are very flashy/bright, go with extremely muted bouquets and very simple jewelry. Good luck with your wedding!

I think navy and gold would be good. I think silver would be pretty too. I had plum and silver. You could have the guys in navy tuxes because they would be so dark you could hardly tell the difference. I suggest trying to get the bridesmaid dresses as close to the tux color so they aren't off set too much. I also suggest focusing on the blue and leaving the gold as a highlight color, or even add a third color in just for your decorations. You could buy you and your future spouse dark blue stemware for the head table and decorate them by tying gold curling ribbon to the base. You could also ask your florist to add baby's breath that is colored gold in your flower arrangements. Perhaps have your bridesmaids wear gold jewelry. Just some ideas to throw out to you. Good luck.

That would depend on the time of year. They are very rich, heavy colors, so would do best in the Fall or Winter, for a formal evening reception. If you're having navy blue, black tuxes wouldn't look right; they would clash with the navy blue. Is this a military wedding? You'd do best to get some bridal magazines and look through them for specific ideas.

black tuxes for sure looks awesome .silver is really nice with blue as is gold ,what about a printed cummerbund and bow tie or vests and bow ties with the colors you have chosen.there are many printed ones available now .they look nice ,at least on the models in the order books!

it depends on the type of fabric and deepness of the navy. i think it will work if you have gold, a light and silky navy, and a touch of a lighter color like cream or faded maroon. a pale yellow might work too.

They are both beautiful colors, but I wouldn't put them together, I would go with one or the other, or a different combination. Although, it really depends on what the theme for your wedding is, where it is and when it is.

Royal blue and gold.... very pretty......very regal---something like royalty.

But it could depend on the fabric/shade....

I saw some answers that didn't like it.... ignore them. A very bold navy blue just isn't everyone's cup of tea.... But I love it!

Good luck and congratulations!
