1. Do you believe these bible verses are true? YES or NO

Matthew 17:20:
"For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."

Mark 11:24:
"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

James 5:15:
"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you answered "YES":

2. Why don't amputees re-grow limbs when they pray according to this scripture?

3. If you really think these scriptures are true, then why aren't you at a childrens cancer hospital right now praying for suffering babies to be healed?

4. Isn't it pretty selfish of you to allow children to suffer when you possess the power of prayer that could heal them and alleviate their suffering?

Wow: Exactly what I thought....Answering Yes to 2 questions that ask "why"? What sense does that make? Oooooh a B.A.? You contradicted yourself...It can't be taken litterally but then you say prayer works....literally? Which is it?

LOL. The bible is so silly. So are prayers... every prayer or miracle I've heard of "coming true" were nothing more than a coincidence. Oh my, cancer has just as much a chance of clearing up on it's own than with the assistance of prayer. Theists use these little "miracles" to prove their point. And WHY is it that creationists beleive the statement: "The more science discovers, the more proof there is of the existence of a God." That's BS and everyone knows it.

Love you Max!

That's crazy. Look, I'm far from being super-religious, I've just been raised Catholic and put through all the religious ed and whatever. I'm not at church every Sunday and I do not believe everything that the bible or my religion has to offer. I do know that when you deal with the bible you do not take things literally. I mean, how great would it to be able to re-grow limbs and heal cancer through prayer? The world would be a great place, yes? If that could happen then maybe I would be at church every Sunday. However, with faith you can make a difference in other people's lives (as you can without it also.) Believing you can is just the first step to getting it done, right? That's how it works whether you believe in a God or not. Nobody believes that if they ask God for a bike that they're gonna wake up and find one in their front yard the next morning, or at least I'd hope not. If prayer can lead to actions that are bettering people's lives then I'm all for it. But at the same time, if you can contribute to those less fortunate, etc. without prayer, well then that's great too.

Matthew 17-20 is not to be taken literally! It's supposed to help a person understand that the more faith you have the more amazing things will happen in your life.

Mark 11:24 God does answer our prayers. He can answer with a yes, no or wait. Also he will only say yes to prayers that are along with God's ways and his will. Growing a limb back is not God's will. In doing that everyone would believe in God and faith wouldn't be a simportant. Selfish prayers do not get answered with a yes. Faith is way too important to God for him to grow a limb on someone and have more of the world easily believe in him

1. Yes

2. Because that is not what any of these scriptures mean. They are figurative, not literal.

3. I am at a hospital right now working, and I pray for these people daily (nightly).

4. I personally pray for all who suffer.

These verses do NOT say that people will grow limbs or will be healed from cancer. What you have missed in your dissection of these Bible verses is the fact that the Lord's will is always utmost important. And if you read the surrounding verses you will learn that the "sick person" is not dying from cancer or lost a limb, but is merely ill with something that they will recover from anyway. The prayer only speeds the process. Just as Christ ended his prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane with, "Not as I will, but as thy wilt.", I end my prayers with "Thine will be done." A true Christian knows that there may be reasons that we do not understand for a child's illness or for someone to lose their arm. We have faith that these things happen for a reason. Read the entire Bible instead of dissecting it to say what you want it to say. If you do, you will learn why we have the faith that we have.

I get the feeling you wouldn't accept the answer even if you actually got it. You seem intent only on conflict.
In the unlikely event you really want an answer here's a shot.
Loving help of GOD

The loving help of eYshua might be a bit more complex than we realize. If we are indeed responsible in some way for our own reality then the help we seek is understanding of how things work. Therefore eYshua does not control our individual reality but teaches us how to do it. Much like a parent might teach a child to drive a car. In an emergency the parent may grab the wheel to prevent disaster but for the most part the child must learn to drive independently. Also occasionally accidents happen. While we choose to believe our reality is under complete divine control we may end up in the ditch from time to time because of our own mistakes and or sins

OOOHHHH A CHALLENGE!!! Betcha I CAN answer all of them... (Whether you AGREE is a different matter.)

1) Yes.
2) These verses are metaphors which you have removed from their scriptural context. When applied in context, they are absolutely true. By the way, metaphors are not meant to be taken literally.
3) See above. They're metaphors.
4) No, it's not selfish. I am sure that all parents, even some who profess no belief in God pray for their sick and dying children. There are ongoing scientific studies about how this helps children.

...Q-1 Why don't amputees re-grow limbs when they pray according to this scripture?

...A. God has not obligated Himself to heal everyone. You need to compare Scripture with Scripture and stop making doctrine from one verse you yank out of context.
*********************************************************************
...Q-2. If you really think these scriptures are true, then why aren't you at a childrens cancer hospital right now praying for suffering babies to be healed?

...How about if I meet you over there? I will let you lead the charge and I will come after you. How much time do you spend over there now trying to ease pain and suffering? Again, look at all the verses that speak about healing. The Apostle Paul had a thorn in the flesh; Timothy had frequent ailments.
**********************************************************************
...Q-3. Isn't it pretty selfish of you to allow children to suffer when you possess the power of prayer that could heal them and alleviate their suffering?

...Why don’t you do a little more study? Diligently compare Scripture with Scripture - and you will find that God does not guarantee healing to everyone. The right attitude for the Christian to have is Jesus's attitude in the Garden of Gethsemane - "Nevertheless, not My will, but Thine be done."

In anwser to your questions, this life is a time of growth and learning and a period for us to overcome certain challenges. Some people have harder challenges than others do. Each and every one of us accepted the challenges we each would go through before we came to this world. Some things that you see as a challenge others do. If God were to heal every sickness and obstacle then that would make void the whole purpose of us being here on this earth. A lot of time it is very hard for us to understand why we or loved ones have to face certain things in life and we probably may never understand the whole time we are on this earth. One thing that I do promise though is that once this mortal time is over we will have a full understanding of the growth and understanding we have gained from this life. Now matter what we face we need to live life to the fullest we can and get everything out of it we can. Try to ace this test of life that we have been given!

Our ways are not God's ways. Our understanding of God is not perfect. Obviously none of us has the faith needed to move mountains. No one but God has the power to heal - no one. I've never heard of anyone praying for the regrowing of lost limbs, maybe because it's physically impossible. One doesn't have to pray for children in the hospital. Prayers may be offered up anywhere, any time, any place. God doesn't make the children or anyone else sick or make them suffer. It's the work of the devil.

Have you not read:

1John 5:14
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

My son's amputation kept him from going to Iraq. So, to a degree, his accident was a provision for protection from something worse.

I can pray for ALL cancer patients from right here.
Prayer does not require us to be "on site."

Prayer for healing can be answered in many different ways. The power of prayer has no limits, it's just that it's what God wants, not necessarily what you or I want.

All the verses are true but they are taken out of context and are not intended to be literal in the way you are trying to make them. Prayer is powerful and God always answers prayers. The three categories of answers are "Yes, no, and wait". Also, some of the "yes" answers are not exactly what was asked for but that doesn't make them any less effective.
