What would Christians think if the Wicca Rede was posted in school? Is there really a difference? They both encourage good behavior. "In it harm none, do what ye will."

I personally believe God (any of them) does not belong in public school.

As a devout Christian I totally agree with you, always have, and for the very reason you stated. I want to teach my own child about God I don't want her teacher to do it. And as a public school teacher myself I respect the right of the parents of my students to do the same.

HAHAH, i just posted a question (probably at the same time) asking what people think of the Wicca Rede, but basing your life around it. (i just didn't say it was wiccan to people so they wouldn't be biased, even tho i guess most ppl would know)

i think its an awesome way to live by, and sums everything up all in one!!!

and no i dont believe god belongs in public school!! But "in it harm none, do what ye will" is a good way for peoplel of any religion/belief to live by!

Post them ALL. The more education children have about another's religion the better. I work in an elementary school that uses the "Core Knowledge" curiculim and at the Kindergarten level they teach what the world's diffrent religions teach without saying one is better than another. As a "lunch lady" I practice respect for my students who have religion based eating restrictions by holding back the non-meat/non-pork entree for them ,I have 10 on my watch list
and only get 40 non-meat/non-pork meals and 240 meals served this normally works without any tears from my K-2nd graders, but some days some kids get mad if I am holding back for someone else, I we could actually teach them why they would understand better and show more respect about it.
BTW I am Christian

To me there is not a difference between the Golden Rule and the Wiccan Rede. Both basically state the same thing. "Good will to our fellow men with bad things happening if we will them on others." Which the Wiccans believe in their "Rule of 3," what ye do, it returns times 3.

I think they are all GREAT rules, unfortunately the Christians are of the mind, its my way or the highway.

Because of the spread of Christianity, and Hollywood, Wicca has become an (incorrect) sybol of evil. It's ignorance on the public's part.

But I agree. Religion has to place in public schools unless there was an elective course that taught world religion or if their were, say, a mural that depicted ALL religion.

I agree. I think that they should be taught, so that children are not ignorant about the subject of religion, but in terms of being endorse or enforced no religion should.

The ten commandments does, however, have legal precedents to remain on the supreme court, and other courts, because our judicial system was founded on the principles of the ten commandments, but that is not a religious thing, but a historical thing.

This might just be my own opinion but I'm a Lutheran(Christian) & it really wouldn't bother me if they had Wicca, Muslim, Jewish or Christian info posted in school. I personally wish I knew more about other religions because my 14 year old daughter is interested in the Wicca religion but she asks me Q's about it & I can't answer because I just don't know

Stephen Colbert interviewed a member of congress who was proposing a law to display the ten commandments (in federal courts I believe). Colbert played along and then suggested the guy say what the ten commandments were and the hypocritical scumbag could not name one. It was hilarious but also very telling about the lip service the conservatives pay to religion.

I don't understand the NEED for the posting of moral material in public schools. I understand the WANT, a spreading a a particular value system, but if you are being good christian/wiccan/ neo-pagan/ daoist/ jewish/ islamic parrent in your own home, shouldn't your kids carry that knowledge and behavior inside of them without a poster in the classroom?

I am sorry you believe that as I said this country is going down hill and part of the reason started with no GOD in schools. NOW it is beyond ignorance.....I believe that people who are not Christian have a right to their beliefs even tho many do not agree. I do not think schools should encourage WICCA. There is a big difference as Christians believe in GOD and WICCA embrace Mother natue. Who do they think created Mother Nature anyway!
