Hi, I'm a paedophile and I need to get help...?

Question

I'm a 24 year old college student. My uncle introduced me to a girl he thought would be great for me. At the time he told me she was 19. I was really attracted to her and was going to ask her out.

I just found out that she's not 19. She's turning 18 in about 3 weeks.

I feel so disgusted for being attracted to a 17 year old...but I'm afraid to get help because I don't want a therapist or anything to judge me. What do I do?

But I still feel gross because although I know she's 17 I still find her attractive, and I still want to be friends with her.

Is that horrible? =/

You're not a pedophile. 17 is legal in most states and she's turning 18 anyway. There's no need to worry.

your not a PEDOPHILE, 17 isn't bad, its 7 years which is kind of alot but its nothing to be ashamed of. Now if she was 14ish and below you got a problem. Bobs year range for a OK marriage is 10 years, it dont apply to you because that would get you into the pedophile range, but say a 30 year old and 20 year old. its nothing to be ashamed of being attracted to a 17 year old, especially when you are 24. dont waste your money on a therapist and move on and your not a pedophile, when you start to be attracted to 14ish below then we will talk.


17 is the age of consent in most places so you could probably do her, but anyways, 17 is not a child, and it is ok if you go out with a 17 year old, although keep it approrpriate cause 17 years old are easily taken advantage of, although if you did you would probobly kill yourself. nothings wrong with you, your not a pedophile theres nothing to be ashamed of.

You ARE NOT a pedophile. Being attracted to a 17 year old who looks older (many of them do) is NOT pedophilia. Many girls age 14 to 17 look much older than they are and being attracted to them is fine (they don't have their ages printed on their foreheads, after all). Most real pedophiles like children who look like children and those who are actually under 14.
ACTING on that attraction is the problem. Pedophiles act on their attractions. It doesn't sound like you acted on your attraction and now that you know that she's 17 you won't. That's good; you have the self-control and morality that pedophiles lack (although I belive that pedophilia is a mental and emotional illness as well as a crime).
You are NOT a pedophile, don't worry. You don't need therapy. Calm down, you're a normal man with a normal libido.

First of all i don't think you qualify as a pedophile if you didn't actively seek out a minor and the fact that you say you're disgusted with yourself shows you have a moral center and a conscience so just make sure the girl is legal next time but I'm sur your okay :)

By law, 17 is considered an adult in most, if not all states. So you are fine.
