My friend gave me her two cats in July. About two weeks after I had the cats, one of the cats (not sure which one) started pooping outside the litter box. I laid linolieum and moved the two litter boxes at opposite ends, and now that cats poop right in front of my door. I always change their litter and even moved their food by the front door hoping they would stop...they havent. I dont know what else to do, I am ready to kick their butts out the door. Please help!!!

Sherockstar is right, but you also might want to try a different kind of litter. The litter with all the chemical scents is bad for your animals and many people don't think about it, but what do they do when the get done? Clean their paws. Check out http://www.swheatscoop.com. This is an All natural BIODEGRADABLE cat litter that Works awesome. You should be scooping at least twice a day, though and The general rule is 1 box per cat. Also, keep about 3 inches of litter in the box. This will also help on scooping. Good Luck

Maybe you need two litter boxes. Perhaps the cat who is pooping outside of the box doesn't want to share.

Are you keeping the box scooped all of the time? Some cats will not go in a dirty box, even if there is only one thing in it.

You need to get rid of the smell from where and when they went. It could be that the person living their before you had an animal and it peeped or pooped their and your is now steaking it's territory.
They also do this if they don't like the litter, it is there way of letting you know.

ask your friend what type of litter she was using and use that - then move the litter boxes to where they are pooping. if you see them going poop anywhere besides the litter box pick them up and take them to the litter box. if you dont catch them in the act pick the poop up and put it in the litter box.

one of my friends had this problem. check to see if the cats are to big to go inside the litterbox, if they are remove the lid. also I had a slight problem it wasn't the fact it was crapping outside, but the crap would kinda land out side and in this case just adjust the litterbox until it sits right.

sherockst...
she has the right idea!
Cats do NOT like to GO in dirty places, and may not like the 'smell' of the other cats!
