Sure, Why not? It doesn't mean they have to get out of school and have a career in the military. They will learn good skill that will help them for the rest of their lives.

I was in AFJROTC for all 4 years of high school... loved it, so I wouldn't mind at all if I had a teenager that wanted to join.

Depending on the program, it offers lots of extracurricular activities and leadership opportunites. I did armed drill team, color guard, honor guard, recruiting, model rocketry... and of course I loved aerospace history and science since I came from an Air Force family. The leadership education you get is of course applicable anywhere (just too bad that a lot of managers and supervisors out there never got classes like that).

I went to a high school that offered JROTC. I can say that if one of my children wanted to join, I would be proud.

I would support it 100%. It would give the child a chance to learn some dicipline and some appreciation for the military. Why would anyone be against it?

If your child really wants it let them. As long as they are involved with something in school it's great. Sure maybe it's not cool but as adults i hope we have learned that cool is not important

It is a good program. I went through it when I was in HS. If you do at least three years, you can enlist as an E2 as apposed to an E1.

I'm currently in it. It helps builds character. Don't think of it as he/she go in he is going to be in the military. Its mission is to make people into better citizens.
