I recently purchased a new MacBook after being a long time PC user. I have looked through most of the programs but didn't really see what I was looking for. I don't need anything as high tec as photoshop, just something similar to MS Paint.

Hi Katy,

I'm afraid that Apple doesn't have a simple paint program anymore. Most of the consumer level Macs came with Appleworks which is a suite of programs, sort of like Microsoft Office. However, they haven't done that in awhile. I guess most people have their own ideas of what they want.

I would recommend you downloading Thorsten Lemke's GraphicsConverter.

This has been a great Mac program for years. It is sort of a poor man's Photoshop. It imports, handles, and saves to just about any graphics format that is out there. GraphicsConverter comes in PowerPC and Universal (your Intel-MacBook) versions. This is a shareware program, but the demo is perfectly good for you to use.

You can also go to VersionTracker and do a search of other graphics programs out there. Check it out here:

Best of luck to you in your search.
