Wikipedia Definition of Soul:
The soul, according to many religious and philosophical traditions, is a self-aware ethereal substance particular to a unique living being. In these traditions the soul is thought to incorporate the inner essence of each living being, and to be the true basis for sentience.

If it can’t be proven and if you believe in its existence, why do you believe?

If you and I have soul, does it mean all living organisms have their soul? Does a tree, an insect and even bacteria have souls?

What the heck is a "soul" supposed to be anyway? We have to know what we're LOOKING FOR before we try to prove it exists. If we never define it, we may never know if we've found it. We might find something we THINK is a soul but hey... we might be mistaken.

You must not know what a soul is. The person's soul is who they are. Basically I, and Soul are the same thing. I, Soul, and mind are all the same. You are a soul. Not your body, but the part of you that thinks, has emotions, etc. the mind is not the brain. The brain is the physical part which the mind or soul works through. Your body is just a thing to carry your soul around while your on earth. When the body dies, the soul then becomes a spirit, in Paradise or Heaven or wherever.
I think where people are going wrong is that they are trying too hard to find a scientific answer for everything. Science is just a study to prove natural things. God and soul are not natural, but supernatural, so therefore cannot be explained or proven by science. Animals are said to not have a soul, but they do have brains. A brain is a natural thing, which is not really the mind, or soul. Yes, the soul or mind (you can see the brain) is actually not a thing we can see, just as though you cannot see God. Think on this one a long while.

If I'm not mistaken, a scientist weighed the same person before and after death, and apparently he weighed an ounce less. No loss of fluid or gass of any sort was detected. The scientist concluded that the man's soul had left his body and actually had weight to it.
If it's just a rumor, it makes for an interesting story.

Thank you for asking an honest question without belittling those who believe differently from you. That's all too rare here.
The only 'scientific' evidence I know of are the accumulated stories of Out of Body Experiences and Near Death Experiences. While NDE's are hard to seperate from oxygen starvation, OBE's are capable of gleaning information impossible to get by ordinary means. It is certainly interesting to study, and the evidence certainly points to some sort of nonmaterial existence is possible.

Do you exist. You are a soul. your flesh. I you cut your hand off you will have cut the hand off of your soul.
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

I am not sure if this applies but.
Scientifically, the body uses electric impulses for movement and most all neurological activites. But once the body dies it ceases to generate this electric current.
If we are born with this charge, and it exits when we die, explain to me how this cannot be your spirit.

You don't need science to prove everything.
You don't need science to prove anything.
In fact, its really just extra stuff.
Love, hate, hope, anger, compassion, crabbiness.....................
All of those things called 'emotions' aren't just coincidence. And they don't float around town in emo-clouds either. They are part of the non-tangible you. The soul.

Define "soul" and "spirit" and this argument will make much more sense.

i dont think it exists, it is just an idea but when you ask people to define it they usually define mind instead...Let´s say it is another way of naming your mind or the "philosophical" part of your brain
