If you file early (like now), your return is error free, & submit an electronic return you may have your refund within a week. If you mail it in, it's still quite possible to have your refund back inside of two weeks.
The closer to April 15th, the longer it will take for your refund to be processed.

What do you mean your friend is putting you on her taxes? Your friend CAN NOT put you on her taxes unless you are a dependent. In other words, she provides for all your needs, etc. If you are not her dependent (like a child would be to a parent) then the IRS will hunt you down and shoot you, lol. Just call the IRS and an agent will help you fill out the forms. From the way you asked the question I'll presume you have little education, earned very little and own no property or investments. So just fill out the 1040EZ form. Follow the steps. It's very easy. You can call in your results and get your check in a few weeks. Go to any post office or library (a place with lots of books). They have all the forms you need.

Do not allow someone ("friend") to claim you as a dependent. Tell them they cannot do this. If you cooperate with this person and she splits the refund with you, you will have filed a fraudulent return. It isn't worth it.
If you have any income at all, file your own taxes. Get a 1040EZ, fill it out, and mail it in.

If you file electronically and have the money direct deposited into a bank account then you caould have your money in as little as 1 - 4 weeks. If you have them mail you a check then it will take a while

When I file my taxes electronically, It usually takes about 14 days if I choose direct deposit. If you can, try this option instead of those "get your money instantly" hoaxes. They are a rip off. Especially if you plan to itemize.

The sooner you do it, the faster you get the money... If she were to wait until march to send them in it could take months, if she sends them in now could be as soon as a couple weeks.

Welcome to the wonderful world of IRS, lol.
Depending on well the taxes are done, it could take from as little as two weeks (my parents) to five months (me). In all seriousness, it usually takes a month, give or take a week or two.
