Yes, I look at the ingredients, and I definitely think American companies should stop using partially hydrogenated oils. They are not healthy, and people in Europe stopped using that stuff YEARS ago.
I also look to make sure it's actually what it says it is...fruit juice with..*gasp* juice as the first ingredient, whole-wheat bread that doesn't have a bunch of artificial junk in it, and such like that.
I try to go organic when I can, but I'm low on finances, so it's hard, but I definitely think organics the way to go.

Yes I always look at whats in my food/drink. No I am not shocked, I just look before I buy. Have you been paying attention to the news? Many major food manufacturers and restaurants have revised their recipes to cut out trans fats and other unnatural ingredients. Others have always offered all-natural products. If you mean should companies have to change, then no, absolutely not. The market will fix that, people buy what they want and thats as it should be.

Yes. Not shocked, i figure companies put a load a extra unhealthy crap in our products because it either saves the company money somehow or attracts consumers more by enhancing flavor or something like that.
Of course if it makes the product healthier for the consumer, but realistically that will probably never happen in our society.
The majority of consumers in the US wouldn't have a clue what most of the ingredients are anyway even if they did read them.

Over here on the east coast they are taking measures to eliminate trans fats from restaurants.
I personally look for salt content and try to limit it to 20%, at least what is documented.
People should really read those labels, they're poisoning us little by little.
OK my friends granny is like 90, OK, ready?? She smokes like 2 packs of buts and... I kid you not.... a CASE of Shaeffer beer and eats the worst food. NINETY!!!!!!! And is alive, maybe not the best health now,how is that possible.
My buddy that doesn't drink had the worst health problems that lead to his demise at 36. He smoked and ate bad and died for it.
My point?!?!? All the chems that they put in YOUR food (and tobacco) are killing us and if you started young it will stay in your system and affect your over-all health for the rest of your life.
Not to be a perv but have you seen 12 year old girls with DDs......beef hormones. I think that in the 7th 8th grade 2 girls had big boobs and they weren't all that big by todays standards.
In the 1990's when "they" started adding extra chems to cigs, to make them more addicting, I felt it, it was like a hit of crack (another chapter "they" put in our book, no offence, but a Dominican in the 70's and 80's NYC did not create or invent crack, let's get real). I felt it physically and mentally.
Anyone who is between the ages of 18-50 will NEVER EVER EVER see 90, 95 years. And who would want to?? We'd be in such bad shape, it would only be a force of will that kept you alive.
Lastly, in 1980 my great granny (80 somethin) kept up with me (10 yrs) as we were chasing her bloodhound (for 3 blocks) that ran away. Great mental and physical health a year later she gets cancer and dies some-what quickly (thank the heavens).
Wake up people, we are getting euthinised, and we don't even know it.
PS And why is everyone you know is depressed?!?!?!

Companies should do whatever they want and just keep listing the ingredients. If people want to eat things that are all natural, then they'll read the label and buy those things. If people get seriously depressed and want to buy something that's all artificial but tastes great, then they should be allowed to do that. In America, anyway.
My personal motto: If they outlaw doughnuts, only outlaws will have doughnuts.

Eat what you enjoy. If the list of ingredients on your food causes undue stress in your life, then shop for products with a shorter list. There's no conspiracy to kill anyone going on in food companies... people live longer now than they did 2 or 3 generations ago.
Give your head a shake, enjoy your food, enjoy your life...you're going to die, so get over it and die happy!

I would like to see more companies go organic. I have been very impressed with the flavor of organic vegetables and fruit I switched to this past year. Even the shelf life is longer. I had forgotten how good food should taste. Now the others taste like cardboard.

Yes, but i'm sure they'd taste much different than you're used to. I've tried all natural products and they're not as "flavorful" as one might originally expect or hope for. But by far it is much healthier. Thus far people have proved that health is in little comparison when put against taste.

Yes, & I can't believe the contents in some of the foods on the market today, yet they tell us to eat healthy. Go figure! For example, there's a filler that's used in paint, that's also found in doughnuts & lipstick. Scary huh?
