We are in a not-too-long distance relationship and I want to write him a letter because I am usually on the phone with him when he is driving home from work. He always stops to get his mail and I hear him say "ahhh nothing more than junkmail and bills." I'm just writing this letter for fun; it's not a love letter but more of a letter just to make him smile. Guys what you want to hear and girls, do you have any ideas?

All good ideas, I like the phony bill idea, it has posibilities. Bill him lots of money for talking to you on the phone. You could make it look like a real bill on the outside and inside, and start with a few charges that might be real, then start with the silly charges, like stopping at mail box while talking to me, $12, talking about the car instead of me, $82, days you are away from me, $1200 per day. You get the idea.
Or make up an outlandish letter about what you are doing while he is away, again start out like it is real, then get silly. On Monday I washed my hair, Tuesday I went to the dress designers and was fitted for a new winter wardrobe at Vera Wang's New York store, Wednesday I had a date with Sam Walton's grandson and he gave me a Walmart store, Thursday I went to Aunt Prudences will reading, and she left me a house and a car and 40 million. End with all of this is not half as good as being with you, I miss you, and I enjoy our phone talks so much!
You could send him little gifts every day, some homemade cookies, a little gift card for Blockbuster, some stamps and stationary for sending letters to you, so he could open them while talking to you. Or send him a talking letter, include your favorite music in the back ground, or if you have talent, sing it yourself. Just keep it from being soppy and long, he would not enjoy it as much then.
Hope this helps.

My husband and I were in a not-so-long distance relationship all through college and we sent each other letters, cards and postcards. I highly recommend getting some cool postcards, perhaps prints of an artist he likes, pics of famous people he likes, cartoon characters he likes, whatever. You can get a bunch for a few dollars and then just jot little notes on them to send more frequently than letters (cheaper stamps, too!). Especially since y'all talk on the phone a lot, the main thing isn't what you say, it's that you're sending it through the mail.

Also, check out the romantic cards in your local store. There are lots that aren't too cheesy out there these days, with plenty of room to write a full letter inside. When you write the letter, just imagine you're telling a friend why you like him so much and write it down.

You have already received some fantastic ideas. I just wanted to give you a few book recommendations:
"1001 Ways to Be Romantic" by Gregory J. P. Godek
"1001 More Ways to Be Romantic" by Gregory J. P. Godek
These books are great and might be available in your local library. We're happily married and we still look through them for ideas.

Make some phony bill statement, but making it obvious that it's from you. Then write exactly what it is you want to say, then kid around, bust out a few inside jokes, and hopefully you will have brightened his day!

ps- I hate junk mail!!

I like it when my girlfriend writes me letters/really long cards for various holidays. I like it whenever she points out what she thinks is cute on me or why she likes me. I also like when she randomly inserts our personal inside jokes throughout them -- that always makes me laugh. Overall just be yourself and if he likes you then he'll like the letter!

P.S. Provocative pictures are a plus! :)

Write a note like you used to do in junior high.

"Do you like me? Check one: Yes No"
etc.
