This is for the people who don't believe in God! Everyone has their own opinions on different things, right? Well lets start here: Someone is walking down a flight of stairs, and they slip and fall, the first thing out of their mouth is: "OH GOD or OH JESUS" If people don't believe in God or Jesus, why do they call on them? There's no place too small, too big, too long, or too short for Jesus. Jesus is every where with us all, regardless to those who don't even believe in him.

Its true. Though many people will argue that its habbit and stuff like that. But I have seen people who have never even heard of God crying for help to some unknown power in despair and pain. I have seen people with no religion finding God in some of the most remotest and forsaken places in this world. And oh how real their finding was.
I think every human being believes that there is a supreme creator. Even those who denies it knows it deep within. The reason we deny it and lie to ourselves is because we are afraid of the responsibilities and duties and sacrifices that comes along with acceptance. We dislike the reality. Its in the nature of human beings to do so and we have developed a little world in our minds, a defence against reality, sort of like a turtle's shell..
Today most people in this world are attatched to some religious sect, whatever it may be, call it christianity, islam, judaism or buddhism. They have all accepted that there is some form of supreme power who have created us and is watching over us. But most of the people in this world toay live in defiance. Defiance of their surroundings and situations. They have closed their eyes to the problems and realities of the world. Those who live comfortable lives restrict their thoughts to their own unmeaningfull and purposeless little lives. Those who live in hunger and pain restricts their thoughts to the day they live in, never thinking about tomorrow.
When i say that today we are living in extremeley perilious times, the very infrastructure of this world is on the verge of collapsing, most of you will deny it. Solution can only come after acceptance.

Just playing the devil's advocate. If you are walking in the middle of the street and you believe that an oncoming truck will hit you, you have to do something about it. Your belief will cause you to move out of the way. Why then, do so many who claim to believe do so little to demonstrate their urgency? Did you ever see Schindler's list? At the end of the movie the guy is all distraught because he can't believe he kept the pen, or the car, etc. because if he had sold them he could've saved more people. How can someone who truely believes ever take in a ball game, watch TV or post questions at Yahoo? Doesn't your belief dictate that one day you will be held to account because someone was ready to give their life to Jesus but you were too busy doing something else? So please repost and enlighten me... Do you really believe that the truck will hit you or is that just something you say?

it is a saying, i get where you're coming from. i DO belive in God but i dont really agree with "my" religion.... jesus is like the "it" GOD i guess, especially here in the US because so many people believe in him. Yeah i know there are millions of people that don't, but they say that about their own God. Jesus just seems to be more in the media. i mean, how many times have you seen a cartoon version of Jesus and a cartoon version of, say, allah or buddah, or any other God? Also, the devil is more common too. And isn't the devil part of some sort of christian belief?? It's just what's available to us.

(I am a Christian)

I read some of the responses, and they are right. It is the same as using a curse word. That's what blasphemy is, taking the name of the God who gave you live, who gives you the air you breathe, and substituting it for a four letter curse word. That is why it is outlawed in God's 10 commandments. It is a serious offence.

As for someong "going to hell", that is a curse beyond what they can comprehend. When they die and realize how real Hell, there is no amount of apologizing they can do. They are telling one of God's creation, who was formed in His own image to be tortured by fire and demons for eternity. That clearly says that you hate someone and God sees hate as murder.

We are all going to die, and everyone who blasphemes God's name, along with everyone who looks with lust and everyone who has told a lie will end up being cast into the lake of fire. That's why Jesus came. Even while you're cursing God and cursing others, God still lived a perfect life and died and suffered the eternal torment that sin deserves, so that you would repent and turn to him and trust him with your lives, not because you want to escape hell, but because he loves you so much that he took your punishment for hell. He demonstrated an amazing love on the cross that no man can fully understand, SO that you will look at how greatly He loves you and you will love and obey you as an adopted child of God.

You choose and you make yourselves enemies of God with every profanity of His name, with every lie, with every lustful thought. If you die, while you're spitting in God's face, what should he do with you when you are humbled before His mighty throne?

Closing your eyes, plugging your ears while here on earth won't make truth untrue. Believing in your imagination or others imagination won't change the reality of what happens after you die.

Consider the evidence, consider the bible, but take your search seriously, because IF the Hell of the bible is real, it is also eternal and more horrible that you can ever imagine. If you consider what your teacher say about evolution, consider what this man says... weigh the options... choose your way....

Those are expressions, not intended to be talking to anyone or being. I am an atheist. When something happens, and I exclaim "Jesus Christ!!!", I am not talking to jesus, I am just shouting something. It is no different than if I hit my finger with a hammer and yell "Mother F****r!!" If there is someone in the room, I am stating that they have relations with their mother, I am letting them know I just experienced immense pain.

God is a position title, it is not your god's name. Don't you even know his name? Man, I bet that pisses him off that you don't know his name is YHVH.

And when people say "Jesus Christ" when they are hurt and/or pissed off, they are cursing him. Some even add the F word in between Jesus and Christ. Do you honestly think they are calling on him? It's being used as a cuss word, nothing more. Honestly I would have thought you'd find it offensive instead of trying to use it as proof of why everyone ought to believe in and worship your god. I know when someone uses one of my gods names as a curse word, it is offensive.

Besides, I don't do that, I prefer when I am cussing to use 4 letter words. And when I do want to call on a God, I can damn well guarantee you it ain't going to be yours buddy-boy. It'd be Thor or Odin, or the like. They actually answer me. That's a lot more to say for your negligent deity you claim to worship.

well not every single person says " oh Jesus" when something bad happens. some will say " oh no" or "oh ****"" or just scream. what do you think a Buddhist say when they fall down stairs, or what does a Muslim say... i bet its not " oh Jesus". i hope you were not trying to stump the "un-believers" with this question, pretty weak

No different that saying "go to hell" or "go piss up a rope", it is an expression that is a part of society, not a monopoly held by Christians. Obviously besides not believing in human evolution, you also close your mind to language evolution. It has now become part of a language. However, if I slip and fall, that is certainly is not what is coming out of my mouth.

Jesus is nowhere - he died 2000 years ago.

If you think that the fact that people say "Oh, Jesus" when they get hurt demonstrates that Jesus is "everywhere with us all", you're amazingly desperate. It obviously does not.

It was a mistake for you to post this question - it's simply ridiculous. Someday when you're older you'll realize that your public reputation is valuable, and you'll regret throwing it away like this.

Are you grasping at straws, now? Jesus was just one of a group of rebels, looking to overthrow the 'establishment'. He died 2000 years ago, and has NEVER been seen again! There were Pharoahs who were believed to be Gods as well, and no one has ever seen them again either! Talk about blind faith!
