Yes because you are still a free moral agent, capable of making the decision NOT to serve Jehovah.
To have your name written in the book of life means that you passed the final test, after the 1000 years of God Kingdoms influence is over, when Satan and his demons are released to test mankind one final time, and if you pass, then your name is written within the pages of the book of life.
But any time after that, should you choose not to serve Jehovah, then your name will be erased and will die.

Yes. There are several biblical examples and teachings were people who are in Christ can fall away.
One of the clearest examples i can think on top of my head is Romans 11. In Romans 11, Paul tells the Gentiles that they have been grated into the olive tree. (that is grafted into the blessing/inhertiance/family of God, these would be the same people who are written in teh book of life). However if you continue to read in Romans 11 he says also that the same branches that have been grafted in can also break off. Therefore no longer being a part of the blessings/inheritance/family of God and therefore no longer in the book of Life.

If one goes and breaks the commandments or starts using Gods name in vain or murders etc.
they sure can loose there salvation and have there names removed from the book of life.
Its important to stay on the right path after you have found it.

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5 KJV HOLY BIBLE
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:19 KJV HOLY BIBLE

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there is a warning someplace in the bible not to do anything that would cause your name to be "blotted out" of the book of life.
P.S. Actually the reference is in Revelation 3:5....it says something like he who overcomes, I will never blot out his name from the book of life (God speaking).

It would be very hard. You get saved by confessing and believing in your heart the Lord Jesus. You would have the do the same to loose your faith by confessing and believing in your heart that Jesus is not Lord. It would have to be a sincere heart reverse.
(Genesis 25:34) Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

I believe that once a person exercises saving faith in Jesus Christ, he or she is forever in the family of God. God never kicks anyone our of his forever family. A number of Scripture passages support this view. For example, in 1 Corinthians 12:13 we are told that at the moment of salvation the Holy Spirit places us in the body of Christ. Once we are infused into the body of Christ, we are never excised from the body. In fact, Ephesians 1:12 and 4:30 indicate that at the moment of believing in Jesus Christ for salvation, we are permanently "sealed" by the Holy Spirit. At that point, we are God's everlasting property. That seal guarantees that we'll make it to heaven.
Moreover, we read in John 10:28-30 that it is the Father's purpose to keep us secure despite anything that might happen once we have trusted in Christ. Nothing can snatch us out of His hands. God's plans cannot be thwarted (Isaiah 14:24). Further, Romans 8:29-30 portrays an unbroken chain that spans from the predestination of believers to their glorification in heaven.
Another fact we need to keep in mind is that Christ regularly prays for each Christian (Hewbews 7:25). With Jesus interceding for us, we are sucure. (His prayers are always answered!)
Of course, the fact that a believer is secure in his salvation does not mean he is free to sin. If the Christian sins and remains in that sin, Scripture says that God will discipline him or her just as a father disciplines his children (see Hebrews 12:7-11).
