My german shepard who is 7 got ahold of the pan of brownies on the counter......I heard dogs arent supposed to eat chocolate.......what should I do......will she be ok?

Chocolate IS poisonous to dogs, but for larger dogs it usually just makes them sick. My Springer Spaniel has eaten more chocolate than I can keep track of and he just ends up sick. But she may vomit now, so you might want to put her someplace where it's easier to clean up.

Chocolate is harmful to dogs, but it is mostly DARK chocolate and BAKERS chocolate that will be poisonus. Being a larger dog he can eat about 1 gram of chocolate for every pound she weighs without it being lethal. If your dog starts to show signs of weakness, sweats, etc, take her to the vet or emergancy room immediately to have her system flush. If you want to wait it out because it was mostly milk chocolate, she will prolly have the runs for a day or two and have a bit of a decreased appetitie.

I would definately call the vet. Brownies contain bakers chocolate so it's more dangerous than milk chocolate.

well dogs arent supposed to have chocolate but my friend gives her dog choclate and he is fine but i would call a vet or get him into see one ASAP. He is older than my friends dog so there might have different side effects

call your vet - your vet will be able to tell you over the phone of symptoms to look for or if you need to bring your dog in to have its stomach pumped

She should be fine. You could call an emergency vet to get their opinion.

Because she's a large dog, she will probably be fine, but I think you should call your vet and get his/her advice.
