I just asked this girl i met about 3 weeks ago if she will go to winter formal with me. We met through a friend but have never been on a date only group hangouts. She said yes she'll go. A few days later we were talking online and she says you know i like you like a brother and hopefully when we go wf i hope we will be going as buddies? I said yeah. How should I take this? Is this normal?

Two schools of thought:
1.) She is not into guys for sex.
2.) She may have doubts about going with someone she just met. Awkward, etc... Why not ask her out for coffee or a burger beforehand. Use the excuse that you want to get to know her a little more and find out what she is wearing.... (It's sweet to get her flowers for the formal)..

she seems kind of undecided... i wouldn't say normal, no... but maybe she's unsure, since you've never really been on a formal date. at the winter formal ask her during a slow dance or something. IM isn't really a good way of reading people's emotions, though.

She is just letting you know how she feels about you asking her out. It is quite normal. Unless, you like her in a romantic way. If you do like her in a romantic way, try and find ways to win her heart - but first start by being a good friend.

man dont freak.. maybe shes more comfortable thinking you guys are going as friends... if u like her more than that.. when u guys get there show her how much fun she can have hanging out with you.. if it goes well.. ask her to the movies... just the 2 of u.. maybe a closer friendship will bloom.. who knows.

Sounds like she may want to be just friends. If you want to be more let her know how you are feeling and ask her if she still wants to go with you.

you are in the "friend zone" unlucky. Just go, be a friend, dont make any moves, see what happens. Certainly dont expect to be getting into her pants!
