I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and I can tell you that your cause is stress related. The muscles in your neck have habit of contracting when under stress, in turn this cuts down on your oxygen supply to the brain causing the blood vessels to contract in the brain-result headache. You have a few choices here. A Tens Unit, which omits minor electrical shocks which helps the muscles to relax, massage therapy or a cold compress. A cream called Devils Claw or Arnica cream can help

based on what you've said here it sounds like a tension headache. from my experience the best way to get rid of them is to take a hot shower and let the water rain down on you neck and shoulders. then take a nap. I know that probably sounds crazy but I used to get tension headaches and migraines all the time when I was in college and for some reason the hot water would help me relax and if I slept 9 out 10 times the headache would either go away or at least get back to a tolerable pain level.

I get these headaches sometimes, they are usally caused by stress or tiredness. I good sleep usually helps relieve them but if thats not possible I rub tiger balm (available from chinese health shops) onto my temples, be careful not to get it too close to eyes as it makes them water for ages!! This usually helps within aout 15 minutes. My friends have recommended 4head which is a stick you get from the chemist that you apply to the forehead, I've not tried it but people I know don't leave home without it. Rubbing my shoulders also helps or you could try pressing on the accupressure points for headaches, which apparently are located in the fleshly bit between the thumb and first finger and the inner corner of the eye brow. Press firmly for a few minutes. Its sometimes helps but you need to press quite hard and for about 5 minutes. Hope this helps.

That is the same thing that happens to me when I get a Migraine. Having my head and neck rubbed helps and using a hot rag on the area where the pain is most evident

That is usually a stress induced headache, try rolling your head a little and get someone to gentle rub or massage the back of your neck when you feel it starting to come on - it helps keep mine at bay!

Sounds like a stress headache. Massage your neck and don't hold it in one position too long. Stop the stress. Good luck. Pops

Sounds like a stress headache. Your girlfriend will be able to massage it away. There is nothing more relaxing than a girl running her fingers through your hair and gently over your face.

I get those and they are called stress or tension headaches. My nursing prof told me to tilt my head to one side to stretch the muscles and the tilt to the other side and to massage my neck. It works. Also she told me to use moist heat. They sell microwavable neck wraps that work great.
*they sell the neck wraps here for 19.95. http://www.painreliever.com/bruder_BR34320.html *
