I love him! I have used many of his methods and they all worked for me! I have yet to attempt one and it not work. I know his methods are nothing new as proclaimed by various trainers but I learned them from him and I think he is great for it. Just the same as if I learned from someone else, I would be swearing by them if I learned it from them. You can knock it if it works, and it worked for my and my two!

Okay, I have a lot of time for Cesar. I have watched his TV shows and read one of his books. The book helped a lot but he did praise himself too much in it.
I find the best tip he gives to control a dog on the leash is when:
He puts two fingers together, steps into the dog and says the Sssshhhhh sound. I have an Akita (very big and powerfull dog) and he would pull on leash until I started to do this and now he never pulls on lead. Such a simple thing and yet it works. So, yeah he's good. However, I don't believe in his love for the pitbull breed. I personally think they should be banned and put down if they are proven to be aggressive. This is personal choice based on my experience with the breed,

He is absolutely awful. His techniques are mostly a joke to actual dog trainers and behaviorists and are EXTREMELY outdated. He's sending dog training back at least ten years. People at home should NEVER try his techiques as many are extremely harmful to the animals and can actually do serious damage to them, physically and mentally. Anyone see the episode where he semi-asphyxiated the small dog with food anxiety? Apsolutely appalling to watch.
And the best part is that he is not certified by The Animal Behavior Society, the professionally recognized certification organization for animal behaviorists. Yet he continues to call himself a behaviorist...

what Cesar does is nothing new, all his theories are basic canine behavior. He just puts his spin on it and has a better public relations firm! Dont get me wrong, i like alot of the things he does things but some things he does and has people do are not the best way to accomplish what he wants. also what he does is easier than teaching obedience.

It is a good thing that we don't get the National Geographic channel. Nothing would ever get done around here just because I like watching that guy.

I think he is great. I wish I could work the magic he does. He is so good with the animals. I love him. I really wish I could meet him and it wouldn't hurt for my dogs to meet him either.

Don't like him. His alpha roll is a terrible idea. I saw 3 of his episodes, and 2 were ok, 1 was actually cruel.
His principles from his book are good...dogs are not people. They are dogs and when you treat them like people you cause your own problems.
Overall......nope. Take some ideas, leave the others. Problem is, you have to know enough about dog training to know which ones would be a bad idea.

Love him! My friend has a 100lb dog who pulled and broke every leash and collar he had. I stuck a lighttweight leash around his neck by his ears and now he is great!!
