BRAVO! I think that you are totally right and I am amazed with all the rubbish that mingles in to insightful discussions on this site a brilliance of light has shown through the murky darkness.
May God Continue to Bless You!

First the words of Jesus never contradict what the Bible says.
Secondly if a Christian is in hear deciding who will go to heaven or hell then he is literally committing idoltary because he is removing God from his throne.
I think you have a good point about them not "believing." I am going to have to think about that some more. When Jesus asked the Father to forgive these people, did the Father grant these people access to heaven when they died based on this request? Or was it a desperate plea on behalf of the people for God not to strike them dead for what they were doing? Or did God forgive them of that act because Jesus realized they did not know the extent of his character, yet they may have sinned later and not ever turned to Christ and therefore were not forgiven for those sins?
And do you realize if you admit that Jesus said this, you admit that Jesus knew that he was something more than just an oridnary man.

My dear fellow, you have made an excellent point.
Jesus was asking God to forgive the people who were tormenting Him. It is His wish that all might have the opportunity to be saved. You must remember at this point Jesus was in terrible pain. He was about to take upon Himself ALL the sins of humankind and the sensation of feeling how terrible that burden was made Him fear for the salvation of those who put Him on that cross.
Humans can flap their mouths and damn anyone they wish but it will be to no avail. Only God can decide who is acceptable to enter heaven.
When someone tells you you are going to hell, just ignore them because they are speaking without authority. If they think you aren't living right, they should suggest some bible texts to read and let you ask God what it means. If you give God time to communicate to you what His will is it will happen. He will get through all the hustle and bustle of this world and reveal to you by some means what He wishes you to add or remove from your life. But, you have to ask Him, "Dear Heavenly Father, what does this verse mean and what should I do about it." Then wait for His answer. It might come suddenly one day or it might take a few days, a week, but the suggestion will come to you by one means or another. He will stimulate your conscience so that you will know if you are doing something wrong. Or somehow He will guide you to do what He would like to see you be involved with....

When Jesus was on the cross, he died for all mankind. Jesus asked for forgiveness for the sin of man. Jesus is our savior. Regardless what people may say, the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus himself. No religion has the right to judge other people on who is going to heaven or the hell! If they ever open their eyes, they will see this. Furthermore, out of all these religions in this world today, there is only one Jesus and one God! The Crucifixion of Jesus was man's law, not God's law. Eventually people will soon realize who Jesus is! That's a really good question

It is not right for us to say who goes to heaven or not... only jesus can do that, and for those people who do, they are being judgemental. Jesus forgave everyone but it is the heart of the person that jesus decides to go to heaven or not. IF the person has a faithful heart, they will go to heaven, but if someone says they are christian and keep sinning without regret, than all they are saying is that they know who jesus is. A person who lives a life for god and believes in jesus will be the ones that are rewarded with eternal life. i cant read peoples hearts and i dont tell them where they will go when they die, but i do tell them why jesus was sent here and how they can get to heaven.

Now, as then, people persecute and kill the Christ within each other. They do not think about what they are doing and some have good intentions, but wrong behavior. They do not understand. Some have turned people away from God and made they so angry that no one can talk to the about God. This is the opposite of the intentions of these Christians. Deep within each person lies the truth. At the very deepest level of our being we are each one with God and each other. People do not see this, just as they did not see it then. I pray that you will find the grace to forgive also.
Peace.

Christians who stoop to literally trying to frighten others into an awareness of spiritual reality are, to put it bluntly, ignorant. Their ignorance is often spurred to such unworthy tactics by their presumption that "sharing the gospel" as Jesus taught his apostles to do, gives them some "right" to judge the worth of the souls of others.
Nothing could be further from the truth, or more damaging to their own soul.
Their subsequent insulting and personally demeaning attempts to frighten and threaten others into a fearful subserviance to an "all-loving" God who promises to torture them for all eternity if they dare reject him, reveals their abject personal hypocrisy and destroys whatever good intentions might exist somewhere in their own religious experience.
All human beings are the spirit children of Jesus; he is our Creator-Father. It was not hard for our Creator, our Father, to forgive his own children, even those who had intentionally and with forethought embraced evil in bringing about his death; Jesus asked us even to love our enemies. That is Divine forgiveness.
One other thing. Several have asserted here that accepting Jesus as your "personal savior" is the only way you can "go to heaven." This is fueled by Christianity's near universal misunderstanding of his statement that "no man goes to the Father except through me." Jesus was, when he was here, and is now, in his heavenly abode, "one" with the Father;as he said, "Those who have seen me have seen the Father." But to find God the Father on Paradise, mortals all will spend time in the universe getting there, and that long, long journey requires all who love God to pass through the vast universe creation of Jesus. It does not mean that all religionists who don't accept Jesus in this life will burn in an imaginary hell.

Christians DON'T decide who will go to heaven and who won't. That decision is up to God alone.
Forgiveness is a two-way street, btw. It can be rejected by the intended respondant. I think a lot of people forget about that, and I really don't know why.
What happens to the person who is offered forgiveness, and willingly choses to reject it? What about them? Do they have to have the grace and forgiveness of God forced down their throats? Should God violate them for their own good? How sick is that?
Just asking.

I have never seen anyone claiming to decide who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. I see a lot of opinions on the subject, but since when is an opinion a judgment? "Judgment" implies control - a decision that influences the person being judged. Otherwise you are just dealing with opinions, and everyone is entitled to an opinion. I could care less if someone tells me that I am going to hell - I have been hearing that my whole life, and it doesn't even register. I don't pity them, I don't hate them, I don't resent them - I don't care. They can believe I'm going to hell all they want - they are entitled to believe whatever they want.

i trust that a lost comma, can replace the context of what's being examine. the unique Scriptures had no punctuation. No citation marks. absolute self belief marks. No commas. No sessions. English language does. So the translators placed the punctuation in the position they superb believed it to be. what percentage atheists will face eternal judgment, because of a comma? right it is what i trust must be achieved with the punctuation in Mat 16:23" yet He grew to grow to be and reported to Peter, "Get in the back of Me." <--He made this truth to Peter. Then He made this truth to the devil ---> "devil! you're an offense to Me, for you're not any further attentive to the failings of God, notwithstanding the failings of guys."
