The metabolism is the rate at which your body cooks; how fast you absorb the nutrients you eat, and how efficiently. A very fast metabolism means you need more food to build your body; a very slow one means you need less, and probably are storing fat instead of muscle.

If you want to lose weight fast, you have to change both the amount of exercise you get AND the amount of food you eat. That is, both exercise more and eat less. That's especially hard, because sudden changes of both parts will throw your body into emergency mode. All the alarms go off, you burn the weight, all right, but then you are hoarding every calorie you can, trying to put it back, because your body has not gotten the message that this change is permanent. And it isn't: you gain it back.

On the other hand, if you make more gradual changes, eat a LITTLE less and work out a LITTLE more, your body will adapt as you go along, losing a pound or two a week, for a long, long time. Toward your ideal weight, it will go even slower, but the result will be a healthier and more stable body.

Well, a metabolism is your body's system that breaks down your food and turns it into energy. If your body is storing it as fat cells, you have a very productive metabolism. There is no way to really higher your metabolism except excercise. If you excercise and do not eat a lot of junk food, your body can healthfully lose that weight. And do not try any of these diets. They can totally mess up your body. Heart problems are one of the most common side effects of those medicines.

Metabolism is the body's processes of breaking down food. You can increase it by eating small meals several times a day. 5-6 is best. Be careful losing it fast, it could harm you. The slower you lose it, the longer you will keep it off.

I can't seem to get passed your photo--are u 2 twins?

oh well*--about metabolism--you have to RETRAIN it......over time keep eating well fruits veggies, WALKING a bunch of miles and LOTs of water/i lost 27 pds since last march and it didn't take long to do either

it's the breaking down of foods into sugar and protein. drinking lots of water helps and never skipping breakfast cuz breakfast starts your metabolism
