Hello =)
He may like you, or he may just be a very compassionate person, who felt really bad about you being in pain....
Either way...if he likes you....go for it....if he's a greatly compassionate person, then, if he doesn't like you, you should make him like you, because he's one of the few out there who are worthwhile......
So, in short....pursue this boy at all costs!!!

If u just met him he probly thinks of u as a friend as u get more into the relationship you will turn to a good friend then best friend then maybe gf or bf if ur lucky u never know
