Most of us chip our teeth from time to time with no bad results. If it is just a small chip you probably don't need a dentist. If your tooth now has an irritating sharp edge or if you have any pain or if the chip is obvious and looks like it needs a repair, then check with a dentist. Best of luck.

Yes--You should go. Your tooth is a hard covering over the root, nerves and pulp of your tooth. A chip can have very tiny cracks that lead into the pulp of your tooth where all the nerves are. That crack is a little highway for bacteria to travel straight into the center of your tooth and cause infection, discoloration and pain.

Yes I chipped one of my front teeth and it never caused pain but it was embarassing. I asked my dentist about it and they covered it up and you can't tell it was ever there. I was very glad I got it fixed!!

It depends on which tooth, and if it's bothering you, or not. I chipped one of my front teeth, years ago, and it was catching on my lip, when I ate, so I just filed it down, myself. I wouldn't recommend that for everyone, though.

yes, you should go to make sure that you didn't damage the root, and or that it didn't chip because of a cavity. Better to be safe then sorry. Good luck, hope it is ok.

You dont HAVE to. It doesn't affect the health of your mouth or anything. But it would be nice to get it fixed....for cosmetic purposes.
