It would be Miss Alsop. She was elderly and VERY bitter and none of us ten year olds knew anything other than that she was very, very VERY mean.
In this day and age she would have been removed from her position--no question. She ruined many young children's love of math/science because she berated children as a habit. The concept of positive reinforcement was foreign to her. She abused children more than any playground bully ever did. I am 46 years old, so I grew up in a time when teachers were trusted intrinsically.
I'm not trying to bash an individual to hurt them--she is long since departed. But honestly--I would get rid of that abusive teacher. She did a lot of damage.
And I am the child of two generations of teachers. And I spent some time as a teacher myself--so I am not merely posting this as unresolved anger...

I would pay more attention, instead if day dreaming. My parents fought a lot and that was my way to cope. It was easier to pretend my life was different. As for school, it did not matter to me then. Had I put my mind into my school work then, my life may have turned out better.

I would have payed better attention and done my homework, I'm not a very good speller and I am horrible at math and I think it is because I never did my work in grade school.

i would go back and play MORE. i used to always cry and be stressed out when i was little over some dumb project on dinosaurs or something. nothing you do in school matters until high school, i would goof off and not worry about a thing.

I'd study a lot harder and play less. Playing doesn't get you a scholarship and a good education then money for life with a good job. No kidding.

I will stop studying. After 17.5 years invested in studies, I have zero job security.
