Usually I'm advising on how to remove programs from auto start but this is pretty simple as well.

On Windows XP you have a folder named "Startup" in your start menu programs list. If you deleted it you can create a new one in C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Start Menu\Programs

Any shortcut you throw in that folder will lauch with windows
