My mother is ill and she has thrush of the mouth we have been refilling the plastic water bottles (spring water). Even though we wash them well more like rinse them out, I don't feel we that we really get them clean and that is why my mother still has an ongoing yeast infection, (Thrush), which I feel is remaining bacteria in the bottle, is that possible?.

Contrary to the belief of the other poster, oral thrush happens frequently in people that have healthy immune systems...not always the immunocompromised. You do need to probably dispose of the water bottles. Candida albicans, the organism responsible for your mother's grief, is not easily destroyed. Invest in some new water bottles, her and her health will totally appreciate you for it.

YOu should sterilize it with boiling water for a minute to kill the fungus on the bottle and anthing that is going to be reused wash in saopy water and sterize. You can get oral medication fromt he doctor that will clear it up in a few days because it can spread down the throat.

First of all, yeast is a FUNGUS, not a bacteria. IS she taking any kind of oral or IV anti-fungal medication??

And also, is this oral thrush associated with (I hate to ask this)....HIV or AIDS??
