Hi, I've had these pains very long time, first they came once in a while, then more and more often and in the end I couldn't eat anything. So I went to a doctor and had myself checked, they've done the blood tests first, and they found extremely high levels of bacterias in my stomach named "HELICOBACTER PYLORI" normal levels are 0.9 mine were 6.4 which is unbelievable,I've had the highest in his office. These bacterias you can get even from glass of tap water in the restaurant, or from raw meat like steak. My doctor told me I could have had them for years without knowing and that stress causes them to get worse, but it could be something else that triggers them too. It was real bad at times, that it felt like sharp knife going thru my ribs, or that my stomach was trying to get out of my ribs, and the only thing that was helping me was peppermint tea with honey, but only for little bit and then I got it back. I lost about 10 pounds which is a lot for me, I looked really anorectic, but I just couldn't eat with the pain. Finally the doctor gave me really strong antibiotics you take 4 pills 4 times a day for 2 weeks, and I go have the bacteria checked every two years now, but they seem to be going back to normal, last spring I was at 1.1 which is OK, haven't had the pains since the pills. I also used some organic teas and ate red beet, which is recommended, especially the syrup from it. It is fairly new ill, not much known about it, but you can google it for symptoms. Good luck I hope you are not as sick as I once was and I hope you feel better soon but have yourself checked for sure by a doctor it is a simple blood test but you have to tell them to check for the bacteria, they call them H-pylori too. BTW: I thought I'm having gas or ulcer problem too in the beginning but these little candies for it were not helping and I ate tons of Ibuprofen which after while was not helping either and my doctor told me it was actually hurting my stomach more.

Yes, you probably have IBS- Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It can have symptoms anywhere from a mild stomach discomfort to mind numbing pain. I once had it so bad my body went into shock, was dripping wet with sweat had to be carried home by a co-worker.
It is when your colon pulses like a heartbeat- that is how my doctor described it to me. I have not found much that works in the wya of medication. The best thing is deep breathing exercises to try to control the pain.
If your doctor is sympathetic you may be able to get a prescription for percocet or some very strong pain reliever, but they don't usually like to hand those out. There are also some prescriptions on the market but I personally have not had any luck with them. But everyone is different, you should give them a try.
Talk to your doctor and mention IBS- it took 3 months of that pain every single night, 5 visits to the ER, cat scans, blood work, x-rays, etc. etc for them to finally settle on IBS.
I feel your pain, it is miserable, I know. I have a friend who has it as well, who has a child and she said she would rather go through labor again that feel the pain she experiences from IBS. I have never been pregnant, but at least I know labor can't be worse than IBS!!!!
Really though, try the deep breathing, that helps me the most, trying to stay calm. Take some ibuprofen and just try to get through it. So sorry, I know it sucks.
