I ordered a dye in the shade of eggplant/burgundy from a company that sells custom-made salon quality hair color. I love this shade and was excited about trying it because, after all, it was custom mixed according to my hair profile. The first time was a failure (that was November)...the colorist actually sent me complimentary color remover because she admitted it was her fault. I just dyed it a second time yesterday with my new formulation. While this is better, I still didn't get the results I want. Instead of a thorough deep shade of burgundy, it's like a dark brown with faint hints of red highlights. I'm sort of angry. It's not as though my hair color is extremely dark and no dye shows up on it. Before I colored it this time, it was actually a medium brown with some light brown/blonde specs (left over from an earlier time).

My question is: Should I give up on this company and go back to guesstimating with drug store dye? (Continued in details.)

What should I look for when I shop? My natural hair color is like a medium ashy brown. I want to achieve a wine color that's cool toned or neutral.

My hair isn't damaged. The dye I've been using is actually very gentle.

Sally or any beauty supply store should have exactly what you are looking for. My hair is very dark, and I used to get a vibrant pink there that worked fantastically.

Go to someone professionally trained at a big salon for the next try. Let them make recomendations based on your current hair color, texture, health, etc. I went through this with being a blonde, it always seemed like I wound up being a light brown because my hair is so dark and when they did take it to blonde it would be fried! I finally shopped around for a salon and a stylist - I asked friends with similar issues for recommendations and finally after much searching I found someone that worked with my current color and that also considered how damaged my hair was - he worked with me to give me a flattering cut that got rid of most of the damge (and still kept my hair long) and also got me to a dark blonde shade with golden highlights. As my hair got healthier the lighter I would go. Good luck!

I wouldnt order from any company unless you are really familar with the product and have used it before..I can tell you to go to a hairstylist that uses redkin products and have it done...Have them use Shades e q..Its a semi permanant color hair gloss..You can discuss the shades before you get it colored..Its wonderful hair color and it shines like glass...They will have formulas to accomodate the color which you want...Have a professional do it and quit wasting your money trying to fix it over and over..You will only end up with damaged hair if you keep doing it yourself..

it has no longer something to do with wether the buyer is white or no longer it is to do with the colour of the hair there are alot of white those with very dark hair too. there are alot of goods available thatàre for dark browns or pink hair shampoos conditioners and so on. with colorations even with the indisputable fact that they ought to assert dnt use this product in case you have dark ahir because of the fact the colour will purely lighten the hair from a certian tone. i think of the marketplace is nice alot greater efficient than it was. to ighten very dark hair you should use bleach then a toner bleach is the only factor which will lighten v dark ahir they ought to place it on the returned as dark hair is harder tomlighten I surely have dark blonde hair i will use pre-lightening colorations and that they artwork yet my chum who has very dark brown attractive hair can't use what i take advantage of or her hair may well be orange. i in my opinion am employing bleach on the minute to get it very blonde i purely combination hi lifitng bleach with 6% peroxide and my hair takes certainly and is going very blonde. there are toners now days that tone out the orange/yellow tones. i'm afraid hair dyes will purely cnt lighten dark hair like i stated bleach is the only product which will thats no longer the products fault its purely existence. i'm a hairdresser btw and get alot of very dark haired shoppers desiring platinum blonde asap properly it takes time as you ought to get the dark pigment out of the hair and bleaching is the only way. sorry!!
