Or did they blow it up and make him bigger than he really was?

Yes they did vote in the early church, when it was just forming and becoming a religion and not just a Jewish Sect.

Yes they did the Roman people who converted to Christianity when it first became a religion had a vote or a discussion, whatever you want to call it. They unanimously decided that Jesus was the Son of God and thus came the belief of the Trinity....read your historical scholarship.

Are you saying 'were the original Christian's depiction...'? If so, no. If you are saying 'are the Christian's depiction...' then no. Jesus performed miracles that are impossible for ordinary people to do. He also fulfilled every prophesy. I don't think the disciples voted on Jesus being a God or not, they dropped what they were doing and followed Him.

Christians never voted Him into godhood. I assume you are speaking of the Council of Nicaea which was convened to deal with the heretical teaching of one guy who was essentially the prototype Jehovah's Witness. His claim was that Jesus was adopted into oneness with God and was not ontologically the same as God. The vote you speak of was taken to show him that he and his son were the only ones to think this way.

Pretty arrogant, hunh? Jesus is whoever He is with or without their vote, hunh! If He needs their permission to be God, then they are, in fact, above Him, aren't they!

1 John 3:2 says, "when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." I would think that would imply that, conversely, people whose character is not much like Jesus can't really "see" Him or depict Him accurately. I think Jesus himself would value your opinion more than a quote of somebody else's, because when people came to Him with questions, He would often say, "What do you think?" "How readest thou?"

I don't think any religious scholars worth listening to would say any less. Of course it(his depiction) is full of lies.He deserves credit for being a human being, the father of decent for the underdog, and not the exploit of the rich and religious .

Maybe, but I wonder...

What do you think people would say about an embodiment of God who walked the Earth, two thousand years later?
