Hi skittles
There are hundreds of us ex catholics who study a book called the course in miracles.
It shows you how to have a close personal relationship with God with out all of the religious nonsense.
Try it, it works.
Love and blessings Don

Well it wouldn't so much be a change in religion as it would be a change in denomination. Catholics and Protestants are both Christians. I can't tell you which one is the best, that needs to be a personal choice that you make on your own. One isn't better than the other, but there will be one that's better suited to your convictions and what Church means to you. It may seem like some are completely different, but the underlying truths across all Christian denominations are the same. It's just how they express them that's different. (ie. some prefer to worship God from a prayer book, others like to sing and dance. The reason for so many different denominations is that people all function slightly different. What some need, others do not.)
First, pray about it. Secondly, just google around various denominations and see if one sparks your interest. And thirdly, go visit them! Your church should feel like your home.
Good luck! :o)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Best thing that has ever happend to me. Honestly. Talk to the local mormon missionaries, and you will know exactly what i'm talking about. And don't listen to any of those stupid rumors about mormons. haha, we don't do the whole polygamy thing. What other religion could have expanded as fast as it did if it wasn't wonderfull? I love it, and I'm sure you will to. It's a lot like Catholicism, but we believe that God, Jesus Christ, and the holy Ghost are three seperate beings, and that God is real. He isn't just some sort of energy source. He really does listen to you, and knows you personally. My personal Favorite, We have temples where the greatest things happen. Because my parents were married in the temple, my family will be together for all eternity. And when I get married in the temple, I'll be able to be with my family forever!!
Just go to www.mormon.org, that should answer a lot of your questions.
But whatever you choose, Just make sure your happy!! Do your best, and christ will always help you.

Peace!
Before you make that switch let me ask you this question. Why do you want to leave the Catholic Church? What are your reasons? If the reasons are about doctrine, have you approached a Catechist about it? If it is practise have you asked a parish leader or your priest about the practises you don't like? If it is just the kind of people in your parish you can go to another parish.
Jesus Christ founded only one Church - the Catholic Church. According to the Bible there is no salvation outside this Church.
I was once a Presbyterian Protestant. I became a Catholic when I was 23 because I believe the Catholic is the true Church and all her teachings are true. In fact, it is the most biblical of all Christian religions. I will pray for you.
God bless!

God Bless You Skittles!! It is hard to tell a person which church they should belong to. I was raised catholic and I did not agree with all the man made rules and idol worship I saw in the church. I left the catholic church around the age of 19 and I started attending a God Fearing Baptist church. Later I moved and then started attending a Evangelical Free church. Remember to keep your focus on Christ Jesus. Church's, just like people, will let you down or fail you from time to time. Just find a good Church that teaches "Saved By Grace" it is not "Works" that please God, rather, it is a heart that is devoted to Him. The best advise I can give you, is simply to pray about it and trust God to lead you to where He wants you to be. May Gods Peace Be With You.

I was brought up an Anglican and due to these orthodox christian influences I always looked on Magic as somewhat evil , Now my grandfather was an Anglican priest and when he died I inherited his libarary , In it were numerous occult books so eventually I began to flick through many of them,
The conclusion I have come to over the years and through a great dealk of study is that Magick especially ceremonial magick can be perfectly reconcilled with a Gnostic approach to Christianity and that the true paths to God would never to found in organised religion but only in Magick and in no way is Magick offensive to God - we are only realising the potential God gave us
you being christain I would urge you to read some titles by A.E Waite and Eliphaz Levi - both were christain practioners of ceremonial magick

You need to find a Christian church that reads the bible, sings, maybe has pray groups, women's groups out reach teams. Things to do. I know I am a Catholic. If you had said what town you are in perhaps I could lead you to some one. You are already baptized in to the Body of Jesus Christ. So to join any other religion, as Islam you would have to deny Christ. Not a good thing to do. That is like spiritual cannibalism or killing.

explore!
You might want to start with Lutheran since its a similar procedure, minus the confessional and minus the obsession with Mary and saints and hierarchy. Evangelical Lutheran is more open and welcoming and more free and forgiving than Roman Catholic. (be careful, Missouri synod Lutheran is not totally open to non-members, you may not feel welcome as a newcomer, they have more strict regulations)
You may like Evangelical Lutheran and stay with it, but if you want, you can still explore other churches too. They won't try to "own" you. Avoid churches who want to "own" you and give you a hard time if you don't attend.
Also, some (Non-Lutheran) Evangelical churches can be open and welcoming, and very energetic and liberating, and great for your soul, although you may find it a little freaky sometimes with displays of "talking in tongues" etc...and songs that are (vain) repetition or meant to bring you to a minor trance. Focus on the good, disregard the rest.
Regardless which denomination you try, or choose, you may need to visit more than one church of the same denomination. One may be cold and rude and another of the same denomination may be warm and inviting. Don't prejudge a whole denomination based on one location of a church. Find one YOU like !
PS- Oh! There are some really great educational resources that don't really need to be any one denomination: John MacArthur is one of the best ! You will learn so very much from him. His radio broadcast is called "Grace To You" www.gty.org
And there is Charles Stanley too, www.oneplace.com You can hear sermons or educational lectures on the internet. You can always learn a lot, and get encouragement in going through life well.
And Joyce Myers on TV is really wonderful and encouraging, for everyone, men too, but especially for women. On TV, or www.joycemeyer.org

It is more important to think and LIVE in a spiritual way than to adhere to a specific religion. I think you would love the book, "Secrets About Life Every Woman Should Know," by Barbara DeAngelis. It is a book about life written from a very spiritual perspective. The bookstore can order it for u if they don't have it. This book helped me to apply spiritual principles to my life; it brought my thinking to the next level. I have studied Vedic philosophy (from ancient India) and it is very profound and rings very true to my heart. Of the popular religions here, I would choose Buddhism, as it also helps you to live properly and peacefully. But the best thing u can do is learn to MEDITATE.
Namaste (the Divine in me honors the Divine in you.) :)

My suggestion to you is that you make sure you know just what you are leaving first. Are you sure the Catholic Church is not right? Or do you just not like it? I don't mean disrespect, but you want to be sure. I suggest the Book "I'm not being fed" by Jeff Cavins. Other authors that might be helpful are Stephen K. Ray, Patrick Madrid, Karl Keating, and G.K. Chesterton. With all due respect and Christian love, I implore you to make sure.
