Either two things happened here:
1) You hurt his feelings and he cried as soon as he hung up the phone
2) His house was on fire and he needed to end the conversation before he got burned

In either case you need to wait a week, and then call him up and say "I'm sorry about what happened" That way you have both bases covered. How cool is that?!

He's hurt and defensive. No one likes to be dumped. Unless you have a change of heart and want to continue the relationship though, I'd give him some space for the time being. Once he's had a bit of time and has been able to get over the initial rejection, try talking to him. Maybe he'll feel that he would rather have you as a friend than not in his life at all. On the other hand, he may decide that he'd rather not. If that's the unfortunate case, just respect his feelings and let him take the reins when it comes to a friendship.

He said that you should be friends.. that's not ending it. It just means you will have to play second fiddle for awhile until he's at a point where he's on a dry spell. Don't listen to the other's about forgetting him. If you can forgo the emotional attachment and jealousy.. there are advantages to being friends with benefits. Especially if he's a man that you think is worth it.

Most women don't know how to go for what they want. Don't be like the others and let your emotions rule you.

For women, we see friendship as being actually even MORE important than dating. For guys, however, when they hear, "Let's be friends" it's the equivilant of saying, "Go to he**." That's what they hear.

So even though you were trying to be nice and genuinely WANT to be friends, he probably took it as an insult.

If he wants to be friends, he'll give you a call sometime. If not, that's okay too. Move on and find someone you can be happy with.

LMAO...that was hilarious!!! We should be great friends, hahahahaha...that one never works...why didnt you just say I want to have my cake and eat it too? Or, hopefully you are around so I can talk to you about my new boyfriends? Or lets go shopping sometime? Friendships between men and women do not work unless 1) neither have romantic feelings for the other (which he still does) 2) neither is attracted sexually to the other, or 3) one of them is gay...

He just can't take the fact that he had something and now it is gone. He was probably hurt at the fact that you had broken up with him if he was a good guy. Give him time to get over it and Im sure he will get back in touch with you. Space means everything.

That sucks. I'm sure you wanted him to fight for you to stay in his life. What a jerk. You are better off w/o him. I'd move on. Don't let him know you're upset. Just keep your head high and something MUCH better will come around, just you wait and see and you will be so happy that you broke up with him.

Now you move on. He probably told you to have a good life and hung up because he's probably still disapointed about you breaking up with him. And little do you know he probably loved you more than you thought.

Honestly you said what you wanted to say. He's being a child about it. He needs to suck it up and drive on. I know that sounds harsh but too often do I see people getting all pissy over little crap like this. I mean you still want to be around him in a non-commitment and he tells you basically to f**k off? Screw him.
