Always remove seeds (and pits) from everything. All veggies are fine; don't overfeed spinach as it contains properties which reduce the absorbability of calcium, Super healty and non fattening veggies include broccoli and kale; leafy dark greens and organge-coloured veggies are highest in nutrients. Fruit is less densely packed with nutrition and contains alot of sugars. Sugar=calories. Never feed your bird alvacado or chocolate, No caffinated beverages. All else is fair game, though. There are lists of verboten foods on the net but they vary from site to site. I know that mushrooms aren't dangerous for birds but I keep seeing mushrooms being mentioned. I once emailed one of the bigger commercial sites asking why - they didn't respond - there is no justification (they couldn't tell me WHY). Mushrooms from the shitake family have properties which support immune-system function so if the birds will eat those then great! You may also wish to offer a small amounts of cooked egg, lean chicken, beef or fish on occassion. My grey will eat salmon: the EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids in cold water fish can't be beat! Even tiny amounts of cheese are good: hard cheeses I mean - not brie, etc. My african grey will eat feta cheese - feta is low in calories and high in calcium. As for the chickpeas, they would need to be cooked first. The shell comes off easily after cooking. Budgies are small parrots: parrots are OMNIVORES.

I used to have 2 budgies and they loved all vegetables.
They loved them even more than fruit. They are all good for your budgie. Just make sure you wash them, if they are raw and wash them well to get any small traces of pesticides off.

Honestly, I can't think of ANY that would be harmful to them.
They say that their average life span is between 6 to 8 years but mine lived for 13 years and ate a lot of vegetables.
Cooked and raw.

You don't need to peel the chick peas, by the way.
Mine ate:
raw potatoes and french fries
celery
brocolli
carrots
green beans
peas
corn and even corn on the cob.
Apples
Anything that was crunchy or crisp. They LOVE that crunch/crisp factor.

Happy feeding! You don''t need to worry.
