Just be yourself and let him come to have romantic feelings for you naturally. You do not need to try and force or push him into having romantic feelings for you. You don;t get him to like you. If he is a good friend to you then he already does like you in some sort of way. Just try talking to hima nd telling him that you like him and spill all that is on your head. If you are as good of friends as you say you are, this will not push him away any further. He may get little avoidant only so he can analyze what he thinks about you since it has most likely come as a surprise to him. If he becomes avoidant, he'll be back with an answer in no time.
