If IBM systematically discriminates against older people stealing their benefits, often laying them off a year or two before they can reach 30 to claim them... is it a sin ... and who is responsible for these abuses? Sam Palimsano? HR? no one... its just a fuzzy fuzzy lack of accountability In recent years IBM managers agressively avoid to credit older employees for kill themselves working long hours while aggressively crediting minority and young employees for less. Is it a sin? Is it just shrewd business to take away people benefits before they can hit 30 years. Is it shrewd to have people work 28 years and lay them off a year before they can get lifetime medical for example

Ultimately a corporation does not have a soul, so technically it cannot sin. However, the CEO and chief operations officers responsible for corporate policy making can sin. God can punish them or He can choose to punish their corporation, or He can punish both.I believe that there are many corporations today that are curesd by God and also many corporations that are blessed by God. Run the business according to Gods Word and Principles and God will bless. Run it opposing Gods principles and God will certainly curse it. Good question. Thanks.

Peace!
It is difficult for me to believe what you are saying. IBM has this image of being a good corporate citizen. They have been involved in many social programs.
But if what you are saying is true, my answer would be yes it is a sin but you cannot say all the men and women of that company committed the sin. Only those responsible for making such decisions. The dignity and well-being of a person is above corporate profits. There are social sins but that is another topic.
God bless!

We are responsible for Corporate sin when we support those companies by buying their products. Take away their profits and you can change the corporation. Look at the brave Blacks who during the Civil Rights Movement refused to use the city buses until the laws were changed.

Well, yes, the way IBM and many other companies treat their older employees is a sin-no doubt.
But---"corporate sin" is another thing entirely. Corporate sin is where a church member openly sins, and the church membership fails to punish him. Then the members of that church are "corporately guilty" of that members sin.

A corporation cannot sin, as it has no individual soul. The officers; those making decisions can. The trouble is in recognizing who the officers are working for. Usually, they find themselves working for the shareholders, and are able to divest themselves from responsibility toward individuals in the plants and offices.

The spirituality of the individuals will determine their sense of responsibility.

Most corporations are run by psychopaths. There have been studies that show this. Not all psychopaths are murders; many are just devoid of normal morality. Such people have no compunction about hurting the people that work for their companies.
