Is the process of letter writing outdated? For some reason, I express myself better through writing...like e-mails, letters, text messages, rather than face to face confrontations. I'm thinking of writing a letter to the person i'm with (soon to be ex) to express the anger about how he's acting, and to let him know my feelings about the entire situation. I've found that when I write, I express myself better than when I sit there and talk to him in person. Also, after how he's acted, i'm not sure I even want to be in the same room with him anyway. Is writing him a letter the cowards way out, or is it just as good a method as any?

If it's the best method to converse for you to express yourself to him, how could it be outdated.
I say, DO IT.
I know a lot of people who write letters to people. Isn't this what all of the English classes we took in high school are for?

I am the same way, I can write my true feelings in writing so much better than I can face to face.
I don't think you're going about it the wrong way at all. My fiance hates it when I write him my letters, but it always gets us talking and I am better able to explain what I am feeling.
If you have tried expressing, and know that you just can't face to face, than yeah I would recommend writing, he needs to know either way and it's better in writing than to be clueless.

I think it is a great way to say what it is you need to say, especially if that's how you express yourself best. But, if you're going to end a relationship, you probably should have a face-to-face conversation with him (both of you will need that closure). At the end of the letter, invite him to call you or meet you in a public place (less chance of a screaming match) where he can ask questions and he can see that you are serious. Good luck!

I also find it easier to express myself by writing it down. There's no problem about writing him a letter as long as you state yourself the right way and don't miss anything important that you want him to know. If you really want your relationship to be over with him then it doesn't matter how you break the news to him as long as he gets the point.

I would say that a letter with good thought put into it is just as good as a face-to-face conversation although it is preferable to face someone and tell them. If it is how you are better able to express yourself than by all means, go for it. He may be a little confused as to why you broke up with him in that manner and may have ot explain it better to him but all in all, it's still as an effective method as telling him face-to-face.

I like to write things down to organize my thoughts, too. Just remember -- once it's in writing, it's a permanent record. Why not write it down for yourself and use it as a guide for when you talk to your soon-to-be ex?

written word lets you think more, while verbal gives you no time to think, so go ahead, write a letter.
