Has anyone given this a try to cure the pain of unrequited love that has lasted years? I wish I could do an "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" memory eraser deal, :(

First of all your going to always remember on some level all the persons whom you have loved in your life, especially a lover/spouse, but all the pain will heal in time.
Secondly, one really good way to get your emotions out and heal is mental therapy(a perfect way to move on as a 1st step. )YOu'll start feelin the benefits right away, but feeling better and better gradually. It sure does help a lot too.
About hypnosis,--if anyone is going for to relieve sadness and/or depression it's highly advisable to do this IN CONJUNCTION w/mental therapy.
Yes, I've gotten hypnosis a few times and it IS very helpful. It is. I've experienced the benefits of hypnosis and it definately works too. And I know a lot of people who've gotten hypnosis for various reasons.
In fact, I just went 2 days ago for motivation and for a healthy boost of self-confidence,ect. and was really helpful.
THe hypnotist mentioned a woman(of course didn't mention her name!)--but said that she was going to relieve depression and sadness because she's dealing w/4 relatives that died in a plane crash a couple of months ago. anyway, he says hypnosis has been helping her lot to recover emotionally. She's getting therapy too. Hypnosis helps the process move along somewhat faster in my experience.
A 3rd thing you can do to, to help you feel better for your healing process is go to Barnes-n-nobles and get books on healing AS WELL AS buy yourself a couple of self-enrichment cd's to listen to. I find these ALWAYS uplift me :o)
Try everything above!!
Oh~and make sure to get a massage, it relieves bodily and emotional tension.

Hypnosis in conjunction with psychotherapy can be helpful. First the psychotherapy though. This doesn't mean you're crazy, it means you're a normal person who doesn't know everything and is turning to someone with different skills to help you through this. Hypnosis alone is unlikely to do you any good.

I haven't tried hypnosis, but what cured me was weird. The object of my affection and his wife went to my husband and said he had to do something about me. Their joining together somehow made me realize it would never be. Good luck

If I had that, I would seek counseling, not hypnosis.
