I have migraines almost daily. If Imitrex made you sick, you may still want to try Excedrin Migraine or ask your doctor about some preventative medications (Fiorinal helped me some) to take when you feel the onset of a headache.
I understand you not wanting to stick to pills, however. They rarely did much for me. I eventually had to move on to Botox injections but that was after a few years of this. Lie down in a dark room when the headache comes, try to go to sleep even. If it's not that severe, you may want to try alternately putting something cooling and something warm on your head, wherever the pain is. I had a friend who suffered the same thing and he used to put his head under warm water and then cool water to confuse the nerves and stop them from sending waves of pain throughout the skull. It sounds crazy but it works. Now you may just want to switch from a cold pack to a heating pad on your forehead and temples. Try to be in a place where there is no to very little noise and just keep a candle on at most.
I hope this helps!

While many of the answers will defiantly alleviate the headache, none of them will prevent the headache from returning. What was the cause? Most headaches are tension headaches, and for that the remedy is water intake, stretching and massage.
Yep, once a month massages (by a trained massage therapist) has helped me a lot with what i use to think where migraine headaches, but were just really (really) bad tension headaches!

Drink plenty of water before even getting a headache. It's a preventative measure.
But if you have serious problems I don't know. Massage?

You can get over the counter medicine called "Head-On" it is in a tube (like lip balm) you just rub it on the forehead. I have taken Midrin before and it works great. I didn't have any side affects, but everyone is different. You can also try drinking something with caffeine in it, sometimes this will help.

Try darvocet I have migrains to and davvocet A500 works.
Midrin is usually ok, but I prefer narcotic painkillers because they really do work.
Imatrex has a lot of side effects so i'm not surprised you got sick.

the health food store has something called white flower
some chinese herb shops have it too.
small bottle cost about $5, but lasts along time.
you put some on your forehead and the back of your neck, and after it kicks in, about 2 to 5 minutes, you feel great.
smells like menthol, but it's great when you go to bed, you might not want to wear it to work, or school or the mall
