It's about the same size as the UK but with only 4 million people (rather than 60 million here), it has beautiful scenery, friendly people and a lovely way of life.

New Zealand has reliable power supplies and telephones reaching all but the most remote places, internet connections all over the place, towns have safe water supplies and sewer systems, a network of good sealed roads with a road death rate lower than in some western European countries, good rail system, TV and radio stations, good housing, clean safe hospitals with medico and other staff trained to a standard that is acceptable in any other country. It is a stable parliamentary democracy - one of the oldest in the world. It has also produced one or two Nobel-Prize winning scientists. The infant mortality is lower than in the USA. Very friendly both Kiwi and Maori peoples outstanding scenery snow covered mountains numerous lakes and rivers.the cities are a reasonable size every thing you need can be found there.Plenty of adrenalin pumping things to do like bungee jumping - jet boating good food if you are going they will look after very well have fun.Just to add all the people talking garbage about Australian nasty creatures they would not have a clue have spent most of my life in Aus have seen them but never been bothered by them they do not come looking for you .There are more dangerous creatures walking the streets of America & England than than snakes &spiders here.

Not a great deal but I do know that there is a north and south island and it`s reputed to be the home of the Kiwi bird which is really small and shy.. There are mountain ranges, with rolling green fields and the surf is supposed to be damn good too?, I believe that the ( forgive spelling) Mauri tribes are the original inhabitants of the islands, Unfortunately I don't know much more but that`s the kinda stuff I know without using the net... I`m in the U.K....

Well, I've chosen to come and live in NZ because it's not crowded, it has a reasonable climate, buying a house is more affordable than in most countries, most people here don't take religion or ethnicity very seriously and there aren't many thugs or gun wacks. Education is still available to most, and health services are good. Disadvantages? A national obsession with sport and a growing gap between rich and poor.

God's Own Country - usually abbreviated to 'Godzone'. Once known as the Shaky Isles, due to our habit of holding the occasional earthquake. (I haven't felt a decent one since I left the Bay of Plenty in 1993.)
Not quite as Clean as we would like to think, but certainly Green.
Cost of living is reasonable - I'm raising a child on money some of my friends would consider starvation level, but we manage just fine.
Our police do not go (openly) armed, and pretty much every murder is front-page news for days - we have so few that they retain novelty-value.
Climate is mainly temperate - here in Auckland it never snows, but it seldom reaches 30 deg C.
Our cricket team s**ks. (We don't seem to have an actual team, just a bunch of guys who take turns to front up and get pounded. Sorry, Flems.)
We allegedly speak English, though most visitors soon realise that we actually speak Nyer Zild, which does not require the mouth to be open for more than 5% of any given utterance, and may be one of the fastest languages on Earth.
We're fiercely non-Australian. Fiercely. Really, really fiercely. We are not even nearly Aussies, we are Kiwis, thanks. :)
We usually keep our tongues firmly in our cheeks.

Haere mai (usually translated as “welcome”, also means “come here”) and kia ora (often used in greeting, conveys wishes of good health).
