I have some vicodin 5/500 from a prescirption I had filled in 2002. What would be the harm of using it?

It wont hurt you, some medications just loose some of their effectiveness after the expiration.

I agree with the first answer. I have used a few oldies and they still worked. Not those you mentioned though. I would assume the most would be they not as effective. Now if they look discolored or something green growing on them you may want to suspect they been contaminated, but, if the contanier been kept closed I feel they OK.

There wouldn't be any harm in taking it. It actually will probably still work. All drugs have expirations on them now, but years ago they didn't. It'll still work.

i have some older pain meds I have used and didn't have a problem...but i would use at your own risk and not hold these answers liable. I would at least call the pharmacy and ask.

dont use any drug past the expiration date....some just lose effectiveness but others change chemically and can cause harm...
