My e-mail has always been open, and you've even seen some of the threats I've received. These people are just like school yard bullies, always picking on those whom they perceive to be easy targets. Yet they can't take it when the tables are turned on them. Like the typical bully, they're just cowards. It's awfully easy to hit and run when you're tucked away safely behind a computer.

I now keep my email closed because of nasty emails from Muslims! I used to get lots of hate mail. It all gets a bit old after a while.

No, I have gotten threats via e-mail because of my views. Mind you, the chances of someone actually FINDING me is a total different story. Hell, the taxi can't find my house half the time.

people may answer questions and not make the connection their e-mail is closed. they probably just made that decision in the beginning and never changed because they were afraid of security issues. too bad you seem frustrated hope you get your answer soon.

Mine isn't, but I definitely like your attititude and agree with you on this one 100%. The emails are "screened" anyway, and if you want to block a "pest" it is very easy to do.
