My daughter just turned 1 and we are throwing a big party. I need some games that will be able to involve kids from 1 to about 15. We are doing pin the tail on the donkey, but i would like something that is at least good for the younger kids. espescially my daughter.

to those who think a big party is over the top. some people can't help it when you have a big family, and i know my daughter is only one but i think she should be able to have fun at her party and be able to participate in the games at her party.

A music freeze game would work well with the whole crowd. You play music and when the music stops, everyone is supposed to freeze. The younger kids may not get the concept of stopping when the music stops, but should enjoy the music and movement. If your one year old is not yet walking, she will love twirling to the music in the arms of a parent or older cousin!

Another fun idea might be throwing "snowballs". You can make them either out of soft paper (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) or if your daughter likes to eat paper, you can make them more safe by stuffing cotton/polyester fill or paper into the little panty hose booties (the ones that just go over your foot that you can buy a large package of inexpensively at the grocery store). You can make a target (like a big bucket) to throw them into or just aim them into a corner of the room. Your one-year old might not be throwing, but I bet she would love to romp around in the "snow balls".

I think a party for a 1 year old with a large family is all about celebrating family connections to your little one. Everyone wants to be involved!

Having a big party for a one year old is kind of "over the top". Not really a good idea. The child has no clue what is going on and all the noise and confusion usually ends up with the child being frustrated and cranky. After seeing photos of friend's and their kid's first birthdays I opted for a small gathering with my sister and her daughter, one of my best friends and her two kids who were around the same age as my daughter and my mother. I have photos of my daughter hugging and getting hugs from her "little friends" as well as her cousin and my daughter playing with her cake. All my friends had were photos of an unhappy baby sick and tired of all the fuss. So I really don't have any suggestions other than to keep it short and sweet.

Your daughter is too young for organized games. You will only stress yourself out. You could have some kind of treasure hunt similar to an Easter egg hunt , I did this at a farm-themed party with little plastic animals and candy. You can provide receptacles (I used tin milk pails) and let the kids take their basket (or whatever) of stuff home for their party favor.

When i threw a party for my son when he turned 1, he didn't really care for the games. He participated in in the tale on the donkey but that was it. I tried an animal bingo game where you called out the animal and the kids had to pick out the animals until they got bingo. That game was wonderful for the other kids. try that.

We recently went to Bue's Clues themed party and the children had to find the clue's (Blue's paw prints). The 1 who found the 3 clues first won a prize. The catch was that there were various clues around the house but you had to find 3 of the same color. You could do something similar and just call it a scavenger hunt.

Gold Fish game. Buy gold fish at the petstore..i think there like 1 penny each...and then set up plastic cups with water in them. if they toss a ball in the cup, they win a goldfish. works for 1 year olds and 15 year olds. and maybe have one cup a different color, which can be a grand prize of a tiny water turtle.

bean bag toss games are fun for little ones. finding objects in a bowl full of rice (uncooked of course). lawn bowling, or if somewhere cold sledding or snowman building contest. any kind of scavenger hunt can be fun if the kids can understand what they're looking for. or just put a bunch of those little plastic balls (you can buy them in boxes of 150) in a big room and let the kids kick them around into goals made out of giant boxes. just give everyone a prise and it won't matter what the game. have fun!

You can try limbo (a relaxed version), hide and seek, or consider having it at a park (built in entertainment). You could also have races or three-legged races (pair each older child with a younger child to even it out). Hope you have a great party.

People of all ages love music. Just crank up something fun and let them dance. The little ones can even play some little children's instruments that you can find at any educational store.
