I just had a date with this guy I really like and I think/ thought that he likes me too. So we're saying good-bye, and I thought that he was going to kiss me, but when I leaned in to meet him, he said, "Not yet."
What does this mean? Does this mean I messed up enitirely?

"Not yet" show the promise of a future kiss. You did not mess up, but it sounds like this guy has some standards. He may be a keeper. Follow his lead on this. Antici ... pation is a wonderful thing. Enjoy!

You did not mess things up. Maybe he does not kiss on the first date. He probably wants to know you better.

You have not messed up. You had one of those sweet memories to remenince about later. Not yet means he want to wait and that's good. He wants to get to know you better.

He wants you to want him bad. He knows you're thinking about him. It is a mind game.
